We loved this place. Rooms are large and plush, if very old fashioned, in keeping with the rest of the hotel. Meals are served in national dress, with white gloves. Each meal has both an English and Indian course. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is right at the top of the hill, offering great views, and some distance... More

We stayed here for the first three nights of our India/Bhutan trip and were taken aback how this hotel has managed to stay so frozen in time - the rooms, the dining and the service were all of years gone past. The hotel is fabulously located - high above the noise of Darjeeling. We could not even hear the dogs... More

The good 1. Afternoon tea – amazing experience for two hours where you can sit outside and enjoy amazing tea, scones, sandwiches, cookies and even hot cross buns 2. Some of the staff such as Anoop, Bishal, the bartender, the house keeping staff who come to the rooms are the only ones who have a smile on their faces. Other... More

A heritage hotel, a colonial masterpiece , an epitome of hospitality....whatever we call this wonderful hotel would be appropriate. I stayed here with , my family in 2 colonial suites. First the rooms have lovely names....Rani Raikut, Dupuis, Miss Pierce, Little Peppers and so on. The old world feel is really cherishable with high ceilings, fireplaces etc and a modern... More

This hotel is delightfully quaint . It's luxurious and expensive . It's well situated and you can walk to their famous zoo, the Chowrasta , the very British churches and the best viewing spot to see Kanchenjunga ( 8000m. plus ) . The hotel is quite unlike any other and you get the feel of the times of the British... More

I booked this hotel myself a month in advance while I was traveling in India for 2 months. My first visit to Darjeeling.I booked 2 rooms because of the great reviews.( Rs 14000.00 each per night) Their price was the highest but I thought they would be the BEST since I don’t mind paying for my comfort. They also quoted... More

This hotel is full of old colonial charm, having a real fire in the room was lovely and welcoming. The views spectacular and the food was excellent. the staff were so helpful and the resident Tibetan dogs so lovely as I was missing my dog. The atmosphere or should I say ambience was redolent of times past and the concert... More

A last-minute decision - frantically trying to get through to Darj - would there be a room/would there not be a room...and finally...happiness....we were on the Bagdogra flight! This was our second visit to Windamere. Everything was just about perfect--right from the time Kiran (the driver Windamere sent) picked us up at Bagdogra and took us to Windamere, to the... More
