We stayed at the Windamere and were totally absorbed into the way of things and the way of the past. Wonderful afternoon tea, meals that were amazing and in an atmosphere of class. Thank you for a lovely experience and for the beautiful cake you made for our anniversary x

A last-minute decision - frantically trying to get through to Darj - would there be a room/would there not be a room...and finally...happiness....we were on the Bagdogra flight! This was our second visit to Windamere. Everything was just about perfect--right from the time Kiran (the driver Windamere sent) picked us up at Bagdogra and took us to Windamere, to the... More

Must visit heritage colonial hotel in India Spent 2 nights of my 15 night 5 city honeymoon here I Strongly recommend this hotel Thanks to Shubhana and her team for a colonial experience and a honeymoon upgrade to the governor of Bengal suite. This property is approved by me for visits by NRI's and Americans and the service meets American... More

Just returned after our annual week at the Windamere. As I tell friends, "we don't go to Darjeeling, we go to the Windamere." The hotel was full, this being high season, but not once does the staff give you the impression of being rushed or harried. The hotel is staffed by the most gentle, helpful people I have ever seen.... More

This collection of cottages were assembled into what was known as a boarding house for tea planters and other visitors. It is steeped in the period and beautifully preserved and run. We were upgraded to The Princess of Siam's Suite complete with open fire and hot water bottles in the beds. The food was excellent.....a choice of English or Indian... More

This was my second visit to the Windmere and it was as lovely as ever. Three meals and high tea are incuded in your stay. The rooms are lovely and large. This visit we were in the old colonial section. I had the King of Sikkim's old suite which was hugh with a sitting area and a fireplace. All of... More

Overall experience was remarkable. Regards room - Great. Spacious and with wonderful heaters to keep you warm. Nice large, comfy beds... More

We were in this beautiful resort to spend Christmas in 2011. It was a dream come true. The beautiful and cozy room we stayed in overlooking the Mall was very comfortable. The food and service was just perfect . Early morning ( around maybe 5 am) on Christmas Day the whole staff of the hotel was there on our door... More

This is not a 5 star hotel but an experience from times gone by! It is a slice out of time as a lovely guest house/hotel - it has been kept exactly as it was in Darjeeling many decades ago. It is full board - three meals and afternoon tea. Full of atmosphere! The staff and service were excellent with... More

An idea of what india was like in the raj , with immaculate setting, even coal fires every night in the room. The food and service are superb and the location ideal , just above the busy streets of the town, within walking distance of many of the attractions . A nice evening cultural show as well.
