Was here in May with my family and I have to admit that the place is good. Though it lacks modern amenities and facilities, it has been maintained in a way to give vintage feel to it. You will not find swimming pool, Jacuzzi or other luxuries of that sort but the whole stay has a special feel to it.... More

This is not the place to stay if you need modern amenities, but if you appreciate old school service and old world charm, then this is the place for you. We stayed in Darjeeling the last week in April -- it was unseasonably cold and rainy....and there were strong tremors from the Nepal quake. But, we didn't care. The nightly... More

What to say? Just stay there you will find and feel the difference of standard with other hotels,as they maintain. Unputdownable services. Awesome and authentic food. From pin to aeroplane their service, their management, their warm behaviour, cleanliness, house keeping are just extraordinary. It's bit expensive but its worth more than that. This September will be my 2nd visit. I... More

We visited here in last June. Such a poor hotel as they have rules for everything. They don't have tea coffee maker in rooms and don't serve tea in rooms after 8am as they have fix breakfast time till 9.30 am fix menu food for three times. It seems they are running a charity. Staff is not friendly. Good for... More

It is interesting that this "poor hotel" review is set amongst glowing praise from other past guests. To be fair, I don't think that the agent who sent this person to our hotel, fully explained who and what we are. Technically, we are a hotel, but that is where it stops. It is like being in the old boarding houses... More

The windamere ,from the colonial times retains its old world charm .it has been maintained in the original style and hence the older section rooms have a charming ambience. So also the bar & lounge ,where a fire is lit every evening and the tea service is very nice with sandwiches cakes & hot scones served with jam & cream.... More

The hotel does not require a certificate to people who are still seeped in the glory and warmth of "Raj". An wonderful stay, delicious food lined with the fine aroma of Darjeeling Tea and home-baked savouries, and on top of all the location of the hotel overlooking the mall - sums up all. A must stay for the romantic tourists.

Just got back after a 3 day trip to Darjeeling, the weather was fabulous and the drives to Mirik and Kalimpong were breathtaking. The Windamere, ostensibly the best hotel in town, steeped in history, great pedigree, outstanding location, and very charmingly laid had the worst accommodation i have ever stayed in. The rooms were dirty and run down, insect infested,... More

What a place to be in!!! Just enjoyed our 3 days stay...for us it was value for the spend...though a bit more..a delightful experience. The rooms are large and clean..the staff is hospitable and truly cares for you. The dining area is excellent, with candles on the table and the most memorable part is the serving. They bring the food... More

From the moment you set foot into this enchanted hotel, you are transported to an era which in my view, was a more culturally enriching period. The rooms, service and ambience haven't changed a bit to the times in the mid nineties. The service is very warm and hospitable. The food could have been better. Having said that, the experience...
