Hotel Windamere is a heritage property and a colonial place.I really liked the practice of lighting of fire in the roomss and also the way the serve you the food. But the hotel is a bit boring, especially on the part that there is no paly room or clubhouse to keep people engaged. Moreover the food has no choice at all and... More

The cottage type rooms are beautiful n boast an amazing view. The breakfast offered was very nice. The hotel is conveniently located on Mall Road which makes it easy to commute. The cafe area near reception was a great place to relax. The add on we're two beautiful dogs in the property named chimmy n rinchy.....lovely creatures. Tip : pre... More

It is a true gem! The staff was very helpful. Rooms are big, clean. You get hot water in the bathroom. To keep you warm they keep your fireplace on the whole night and put hot water bottle Under your duvet. Food was excellent too! Mix of continental and Indian cuisine. The High Tea was an experience. I loved the... More

The Windamere Hotel is an experience. Darjeeeling can be a cold place but when someone lights a fire in your bedroom at 5pm and another staff member brings you two hot water bottles around 6pm, you know you are being looked after. The meals and service were excellent. It was heartening to see a waiter politely but firmly let a... More

We were a 3 generation family group of 6, researching past links to Mineral Springs tea plantation in the late 19th/early 20th century. The selling point of the hotel is maintaining it's 1930's character. Coal fires lit in the evening when the temperature does drop, is so very comforting and hot water bottles in beds even more so. Spacious rooms... More

We were traveling on a budget but decided to splurge at this amazing hotel just for one night. After more than a few bad experienced throughout India up to that point (hey, it comes with the country), our stay here was five stars, full stop. The price tag might seem high, but you get what you pay for. Mind you,... More

Darjeeling itself is a bit dismal - like the Lake District (in Cumbria, UK) crossed with Camden Lock (London, UK) - but this hotel is comfortable and clean, and a good taking off point for journeys both further into the Himalayas, or back to Bagdogra and Delhi. It's warm (hot-water bottles and coal fires when needed) and friendly, and the... More

Hot water bottles, coal fires, a wonderful position, great staff and no television. The hotel and its grounds are a haven. The 1930s' music playing softly when we sat down for dinner was perfect. That's where we were - way back when. From the hotel we took a shortish (15 minute) walk up the hill (from the terrace at the... More
