the owners are extremely nice and spread a positive mood. they showed us their rooftop and we took some chairs up there and enjoyed the breathtaking view. we were there in December and since there is no heating, it was extremely cooks, however, the owners provided more blankets and so we didn't freeze while sleeping, but it was impossible to... A long way from the bus/train station but worth the effort. View from roof fantastic. Rooms clean and tidy. Bed and pillow best I've had in many trips to India. Mrs G was very engaging and helpful. The excellent Sonam cafe was just down the road and provided wonderful breakfast and coffee.

After many a nights sleeping on mattresses that feel more like stacks of cardboard, Andy's was a sweet, sweet relief. Honestly, that was one of the top reasons we chose to spend a night here, but we were also surprised with how clean everything was. The toilet was also one of the nicest we've had in a low budget place.... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in early November 2013, based on the Lonely Planet recommendation as it's 'Top Choice'. Our room cost 700INR per night, which was pretty expensive considering you literally just get a bed. The rooms are bare brick and our room wasn't particularly clean and had large damp patches seeping in. We did have an en-suite... More

We had a lovely stay at Andy's. Mrs G was a great host and very welcoming. The room was pretty basic but the beds were warm and comfortable and we hired a heater from her which we really needed. The hot water was fine but you needed to be economical with it. The view from the rooftop has got to... More

Rooms are large, bedding smells due to damp, hot water kept being controlled by the host - when I asked the cleaner for hot water I didn't get any so I found the switch on the main panel and activated the water heater for the room. The owner shown people around our room when we were out and slipped up... More

Quiet place to stay in Darjeeling, with nice, good English speaking owners. We stayed in the room on the ground floor, and it was a little damp. But apart from that - room was clean, with hot water (not all the time), and great laundry service in good price.

Had a great experience with this hostel; not too close to the town center, so not loud at night. Mrs Gurung was very nice and always around to help, and the rooftop is beautiful--orchids on the way up and a great deck with a view of the mountains.

Greatly enjoyed staying here. Good location on the ridge, with a roof terrace for 360 degrees views. Clean room, good size, comfy bed, hot water and very quiet, a restful place to relax in. The owners were very kind letting me store my bag and dry towels after check out. Recommended.

There is a very lovely Guesthouse in Darjeeling with big bright extraordinary clean rooms, always hot water, in a calm area but also just a few minutes away from Chowrasta. Mrs and Mr. Gurung are creating a very comfortable “home away from home”. There is a platform on the top with almost 360 degree view, if the weather is friendly... More
