. Background: As part of a 15-day escorted tour of Northern India, our group stayed at this converted "haveli" in Jaipur. (The word "haveli" is the term used for a private mansion in India and Pakistan, usually one with some historical and architectural significance.) Indeed, the Hotel Bissau Palace is -- and still is -- the private residence of the... More

A converted haveli that makes a lovely hotel full of character. The staff is very old world, the decor is wonderful - and being refreshed by local artists - and the common areas are full of artifacts. The evening entertainment on sitar and tabla was wonderful. I enjoyed the music lessons. Our room was spacious, but quite basic. Access to... More

The positives: stunning restaurant and lobby. Murals adorn the walls and peacocks wander in. The rooms are all heritage and you feel like you've gone back in time. The pool area is pleasant. The negatives: the room walls are marked and the airconditioning and tv didn't work. Paint is peeling. However, I still loved staying here simply for the romantic... More

This converted haveli is still run by the descendants of the royal family - and they still stay here in a section that is off-bounds. I stayed there with my wife, 6-year old son, and retired parents for 2 nights, and I have mixed feelings about this place. On the plus side is the old-world charm of the rooms and... More

The hotel is a converted old haveli near one of the gates to old town Jaipur, and is still run by the descendants of the royal family that used to rule from there. The building itself is beautiful. The lobby and entrance have period furniture and photos on the wall - decoration is amazing. All the walls of the restaurant... More

we stayed in Bissau palace with my family of 2 kids on April 3rd and 4th. The name shows that it is a palace and the hotel looks like a palace with bad maintenance. We were given room the back side room which was horrible. Bathrooms were badly maintained without health shower. People from outside can view the bathroom as... More

If you enter Bissau Palace, you find yourself in an other world; the world of the past of India. Bissau Palace was earlier the summer recidence of the Maharaja Family from Bissau. The rooms are very special and lovely, decorated with many details from the past. The welcoming is very warmful and friendly. Sandeep and the ownder make the guests... More

We stayed for 2 nights in this quaint hotel. Located in a quite corner behind a fence in crazy Jaipur it feels like you are somewhere else. Whilst outside mayhem is happening. The location is close to the market and food stalls. This hotel has been kept with some of its original heritage. Lots of spots with comfy chairs and... More

I was travelling as part of a tour and we left the train station in a tuk tuk on some of the worst roads I had ever travelled on. After some time we arrived at these majestic gates to see a beautiful colonial style building at the end of the drive. How this beauty of a place sat in amongst... More

We were surprised to see such a lovely resort style accomodation when we arrived in Jaipur, the garden was lovely and swimming pool looked very clean although we didnt go for a swim. Our room was very big and kind of felt like the Taj Mahal, it was very spacious and well maintained, we had a spa, air tv, a/c... More
