This was the second place we stayed in India after staying for 3 hours in the Salvation Army place. And boy was it a pleasent surprise. It was hard to find, literally just in a high rise building. The stairs look the a murder movie set - lots of pan spat up the walls. This just added to the intrigue... More

We stayed in room 3 for 3 nights. The room was a good size, fairly bright with one window (could've done with a curtain), clean sheets, fairly comfortable bed, desk and chair for painting and writing novels and had a fairly fresh lick of paint. However one BIG minus was the fact there are no electrical sockets in the room... More

We stayed at Lawrence for one night in August, and we payed 850 Rupees for a double room including breakfast (tea/coffee, toast with butter and jam, and a banana). It was well worth the cost, definitely the best value for money in Mumbai. The staff was very nice and they let us check in early and leave our bag in... More

We stayed at Hotel Lawrence for four days because we were under the misapprehension that there are few budget options in Mumbai- in reality you can stay in the heart of Colaba for only 250 rupees and it'll be a lot cleaner than this place. The bed sheets were clean and we didn't have any bed bugs (I checked) but... More

The hotel is a lovely place to stay if your not to fussy. The staff are super friendly offering a book from the shelf that we needed for our onward travel. The rooms are very basic and don't have plugs but the staff are lovely and charge things on request! The stay was very lovely as it was so close... More

As most of the Lonely Planet's picks, hotel is the most expensive in the area (most of the travelers don't bather to look elsewhere). For the extremely basic rooms (no electrical outlet in rooms-which is really rare) with the common bathrooms - which are pretty disgusting - you have to pay 850 Rs. Go for a short walk and close... This was the first place I stayed in in India so I had done my research beforehand and it payed off. In comparison to all the other travellers I met in the city I was paying the least amount and yet was getting better service and accommodation than all of them! Sure, the rooms are basic, but clean, the bathrooms... More

The best budget guest house i have found after traveling to Mumbai for over the years. The rooms are clean and slightly charming. Shared bathrooms but its an old building and they are fine for the money. The location is fantastic and very hidden away...a great escape when you need to chill out for a while. The hotel manager, Michael... More

The hotel is located in the very centre of the touristic area, between Colaba and Fort, easy to walk everywhere. Rooms are fine and clean, the only surprise was that there were no plugs in the room so the electronics had to be charged in the office of the manager. The shared bathrooms could be cleaner, but were fine. The... More

Hotel Lawrence is probably the cheapest place to stay if travelling on a budget where the rooms are still clean and safe with good washing facilities. It is centrally located and within walking distance of most major attractions; Gateway of India, Taj Mahal Hotel. The manager was very helpful allowing us to leave our bags in his office both before... More
