It may not be the most comfortable or clean guesthouse to be in, but there is no cheaper alternative in Mumbai. Mind you: the average hotel in this mega-city can cost no less than 20 times more than this old guesthouse. And they even give you a (dreary and dull) complimentary breakfast. Shared bedrooms, hot water, etc. All that in... More

The hostel's location is definitely the best thing about it. It's a 5 min walk to the Gateway of India and in the heart of Colaba. The rooms/dorms are slightly too expensive given what they offer. Especially the rooms facing south are very hot. Up to this point, I would rate the hostel 3.5/5. However, the staff screws it up.... More

Could write a lot about this place and it would mostly be negative. But there were a couple of good points; it's very centrally located in Bombay (close to the gateway to India) and it was cheap as chips if you stay in a dorm (350 rupee p/n incl breakfast). Aside from those good points this was easily the worst... More

Great location, located next to the Indian gate, with beautiful views at the ocean. The dorm rooms are very cheap! But the double rooms are a little bit expensive if you are on low budget. Rooms are very clean! Big washroom! Good breakfast. Only early check-out (9.00am) may be bothersome for some.

We paid 1100 rupees for a double room with breakfast. There is no bathroom attached to the room, so you have to walk through the coridor to take a shower. Breakfast is very basic, does not worth the price of the room. It is better to look around and you will find something cheaper.

This was one of the most expensive rooms we stayed in whilst in India, and probably the worst. The room was drab, basic and with a shared bathroom. The staff were not unfriendly, but not helpful either, and the draconian rules were strictly enforced (e.g. Check out time 9am sharp). The included breakfast was barely edible. Not recommended - but... More

I stayed at the hostel with a group of 5 friends for 2 nights. We looked at the double rooms, one of which was quite malodorous, but then we visited the "family room" which was great. We paid 500 rupees per person. The room was large, had an attached bathroom, and was clean. There were 5 single beds and a... More

Despite the bad reviews, we decided to stay here because of a recommendation from a friend. We weren't disappointed. I'm not sure what people expect when you're staying in a Salvation Army guest house? We were shown a room when asked, which was well presented and mostly clean apart from slightly grubby walls. There was an unattached bathroom too and... More

This sums it all up really. Guys managing here are colossal cunts, and they just want your money. If you ask them, they'll tell you the room is good, when you ask them to show it to you, they will get offended and ask you to leave. Shambolic. Ymca at the same price is 1000 times better. DO NOT STAY... More
