We stayed here for three nights and were not impressed at all. We got the cheapest room they offer (1409 RS/$23 US - not cheap at all but same prices all over Shimla) and were given a room three floors downstairs from the front desk. The room itself was comfortable (terrible views though) but the bathroom was stinky and the... More

We stayed here for one night before moving to the Oberoi as they were fully booked on our first night. The hotel is lovely, it has quaint wooden rooms that are quite warm considering how cold it is. Views are fantastic and staff are lovely. Room service is available as well as a restaurant downstairs that is heated. WiFi downstairs... More

I was having a bad experience in the hotel I reserved and decided to move to Spars Lodge. In the end I didn't, but I visited it and looked it over. I was in Dharamsala and Shimla in Dec. 2014 and it was freezing cold. Other hotels had tiny little space heaters, which barely took the chill off the room.... More

Overall a fantastic experience. Been there twice now, and each time, the hospitality, the food and ambience were incredible. Highly recommend this lodge for stay. Its the perfect place for a weekend getaway.

It's taken me a while to get down to writing this review. We actually visited Spars in August 2013 with friends and we had an absolutely lovely time during our stay there. I was a little apprehensive about bookheing a room with them as the reviews ranged from great to downright ghastly. But I'm glad I did book. Spars is... More

Despite what some of the reviews on here say, we found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful during our stay. Like others, we did upgrade the room to one with a view from the one we had booked, but there was no mis-representation of what we were getting at any point. The food was very tasty, both breakfast... More

There are definitely hotels in the area with better value for money. Bathroom was dirrty and old (even for Indian standards), hotel is quite far from the city centre and the owner is a grumpy man. Do not recommend this place!

Worst place in terms of customer service. The manager is aggressive and impolite. They lure people making online bookings showing low prices for rooms but once you reach there, they will offer yhe worst possible room so that you are bound to upgrade

Came here with my wife on 28 May, 2014 based on Lonely Planet recommendation. Arrived at hotel to find front door open but nobody on premises. Sat in lobby for 15-minutes until a disgruntled looking man and three young men suddenly appeared through the kitchen door. Asked for a double room. I was show two initially. One on the bottom...
