Not unlike Bora Bora, Casa Cayuco does a great job at keeping its top-rated TripAdvisor ranking! The two USA owners, Dave & Susanne, made our three-day stay a delight! Three meals a day, enough kayaks and paddle boards to make you dizzy, even a HobieCat to sail (albeit a bit old). Susanne, the attractive/youthful/cheerful/friendly chef and seemingly does everything else... More

Before you read on, you should know that I am not the type of person who visits the same place twice. At least, before I visited Casa Cayuco- I wasn't! My college friend and I visited in Oct 2013 and stayed in Pelicano. It was the highlight of our Central America trip! The entire staff welcomed us like family. David... More

Casa Cayuco is a special place, that my husband and I were fortunate enough to find. We spent 9 days here, and woke up each day to a new adventure and relaxation. These memories have become some of our favorites. Dave and Suzanne are great hosts, who genuinely care about Casa Cayuco, their staff, the island and it's people, and... More

Casa Cayuco is an incredible eco-lodge in the beautiful island setting of Bastimentos. I stayed here with a small college group that studied primate behavior and conservation in Central America. Dave and Suzanne were wonderful to chat with, attentive to our needs and had loads of local knowledge. They were especially enthusiastic about the various excursions that they offered. We... More

We stayed at Casa Cayuco with our 7 and 12 year old children. What a wonderful experience! The beach was great, swimming, shell hunting, paddle boarding, kayaking, floating on rafts. The dock was perfect for taking a break from the sun and relaxing in a hammock. Sebastian, one of the local guys who works there, taught our youngest how to... More

Dave and Suzanne, the owners of Casa Cayuca, achieve something that is all too rare at most resorts these days – the fine, and often very hard to enact, balance between attentive service and a casual atmosphere. Want a drink as you lounge on the hammock, no problem. Prefer complete peace and quiet as you fall asleep on a lounge... More

We went to Casa Cayuco for our Honeymoon and it was definitely something incredible. The place was a paradise, the food was really amazing and the service was sublime. It is definitely a special kind of vacation because it is a 45 minute boatride from Bocas Town, so it is away from all the things that civilization has to offer,... More

And we have traveled a lot! Our time at Casa Cayuco was everything we had hoped for and more. The setting was straight out of a postcard. When our boat approached the island we couldn't believe this would be our new temporary home. We felt as though we had our own private beach...because we pretty much did! The owners could... More

Just back from 5 days at Casa Cayuco. All positive things that have been stated in previous reviews are absolutely correct. Dave and Suzanne are perfect hosts, the property is spectacular and the food (and there was lots of it) was delicious. Fresh seafood is regularly prepared. Not being a fish lover I insisted that Suzanne not worry about me.... More

My fiancé and I are sitting at the table after breakfast at Casa Cayuco and I felt obligated to write my first review of anything, anywhere. Dave and Suzanne are amazing, the food is fantastic, and the small group communal feel is great. I have never been to a place quite like this and within a half hour decided we... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa Cayuco sits on a small swath of land sandwiched between white sand and the lush rainforest. Remote by choice, our resort is a 40 minute boat ride from Bocas Town - Colon Island and adjacent to the National Marine Park of Isla Bastimentos. Our resort is eco-friendly, in that our electricity is generated from the sun. Solar panels are mounted on the roofs throughout the resort. All our water comes from the roofs of our buildings and is then filtered for our use. We hire only local indigenous people and by supporting Casa Cayuco, you are making an impact on over 100 people.Cabins are stand alone structures and have large covered porches for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Each is very spacious, open-air and equipped with fans. Our private white sand beach is no more than a minute walk from anywhere on the property. You swim right off our beach or off our thatched roof dock. Kayaks, paddleboards and a Hobie Cat sailboat are available during your stay.Where we are located there are no roads. Locals and tourists use footpaths to get from one place to another. These same paths provide a wonderful trail system for hiking/walking and numerous opportunities for birding and finding sloths and monkeys! ... more   less
