I had high expectations going to this hotel. On the speedboat to the island, all the locals stated that this hotel and Bocas del Toro Hotel were the two best on the island. Swans Cay Hotel is a very nice and somewhat formal hotel on such a casual island as Bocas Town is. We stayed in the annex which was great for a group but if booked there as a single or other than a group you might feel disconnected from the hotel. The owners of this hotel are great and very accomodating. While the interior is a little dark for a tropical hotel, it has a great Italian feel - very interesting and different. With lots of dark wood, carpets, and European antiques, Swan's Cay feels more like an Alpine Ski chalet than a tropical hotel. The carpeted rooms are a little dated and worn.
