The Mar e Iguana (mariuana...get it?) has a nice, if cramped, central bar/kitchen/office (in that order). It also has a beautiful hammok tower that if the weather is nice overlooks the ocean. That's about all I can say for this place. First of all, it's a solid 30 minute walk from when you arrive in Bocaslight town. There is nothing... More

Had a great time staying here basic dorm rooms with AC. You will need AC if you plan on sleeping in Bocas it is so hot and humid. I stayed in a dorm room as I was a solo traveler and it was just fine for me. No lockers for rent so valuables can be a problem if you do... More

We had a private room, just opposite reception/the bar. It was nice enough; the a/c was fixed for us before we moved in. Cold shower was unpleasant, though not entirely unexpected. The kitchen is small and everything in it needs a good clean (most likely from other guests not washing up properly). There is a good bar, with $1 beer... More

I chose this place thinking that it has a walking distance to the beach. Yes it has, but this beach is very dirty, you can't swim there because of sand moving by waves 20-30meters of shore string. However if you need calm place 15 minutes walking from town and supermarket close to it, this place is for you. We had... More

I'm not sure how this place has gotten a single good review. It is the worst hostel I have ever seen. First of all, they are not located on the beach. The beach they are referring to is across the street, behind a restaurant and it is not maintained at all. The beach is almost always empty because there is... More

I recently stayed at Mar e iguana hostel for one week in January. The hostel had decent facilities with comfortable beds. The prices were very competitive. The staff is super friendly and were very very helpful. The only drawbacks to this place is that it is out of bocas town (which could be a good thing if you dont want... More

Just what you would expect on a isolated island with a bunch of crazy, hippie types (wannabees and the sort) owned by 3 Italian. Great energy and feel. Nice and Comfy beds. I know and live in Panama, I recommend this place to all. Gracias por todo muchachos. Los hablamos. De tu hermano de Grecia (Paulie) y Evelyn

We stayed there for 2 night in the private rooms. Our rooms didnot have hot water, but if you like a hot shower ask for a room with one, you pay a bit more but a hot shower is worth it, specially in rainy days when you come back from the beach. The couple running the hostel are really nice... More

Stayed here 2 weeks while we were examining all the hostels in Bocas Town..Watched them cleaning every day from pathways to porches to fridge items from gone guests even cleaned the kitchen..guests were advised to clean up after themselves but the added touch was helpful...They changed sheets whenever I needed and cleaned as well..Some kitchen items are a little worn... Stayed in a double private. Nice chilled out place with very friendly staff. Cheap beer and cocktails, esp. at happy hour. Hammocks are great. Good tours and info. Kitchen good and 3 supermarkets close. Also a cheap local restaurant nearby on the each road. Wifi is good. Ran out of water 2 of 3 nights for a couple of hours.... More
