This is a perfectly beautiful hotel located on a nice beach. The public areas are dramatic and over look a cove with crashing surf. My suite was lovely and well furnished with a comfy bedroom and a capacious bathroom with separate tub, shower room and double lavs, and lots of storage space. The adjacent private plunge pool was sizable but... More

We stayed here at the end of our Sri Lanka trip, and wanted a place to kick back. There is not much to do in the area at all, a temple, a bird watching lagoon, maybe other beaches. Unfortunately there is also no place at the hotel for us active types, like a gym, or real places for a vigorous... More

Hugely expensive to stay, and yes, lacking character, but wow what a view, and what a lovely dining experience. The hotel is very modern, and you have your own little lake in the toilets - designed rather than accidental.

We arrived at Amanwella having just been to Yala ( Leopard Trails ) which we found very touristy and quite frankly our tented accommodation was by no means perfect On getting out of the car at Amanwella we were greeted not just by the staff but Henry the Manager who had taken the trouble to meet us as well -... We spent four nights there as part of the beach and fort package. Amanwella was built on one of the most beautiful stretch of beach in south Sri Lanka. The beach is public but there are not many people and Amanwella has a private lounging area. The waves are very strong so you could not really walk in the water.... More

There are no doubts That Amanwella is in one of the nicest setting in all Sri Lanka: amazing beach and perhaps the best Infiniti pool ever seen, the rooms are gorgeous with an understated elegance in the resorts, the beautifully designed common area with high ceilings and perfectly integrated with the surrounding So why not 5 stars? A room can... More

It feels rather churlish giving this chic, aesthetically stunning, friendly, and peaceful resort a 4 rather than a 5, but for us I'm afraid it didn't quite make the grade. We stayed here for 7 nights as part of a Fort & Beach package with Aman Resorts in Sri Lanka, spending the previous 3 nights at Amangalla (see my separate... More

My wife being an Aman Junkie this was our sixth stay at an Aman property, and I am still waiting for the one where everything is perfect as Aman claims to be... When we arrived from Amangalla with an Aman car, we were surprised to be asked are you Mr.&Mrs. X and when we denied, are you Mr.&Mrs. Y? Wrong... More

Sometimes a name alone is enough to hint at the allure of a given place, as we quickly found out at this tranquil resort on the secluded Sri Lankan shores. Its an idyll tryst to share with your loved one that has more coconut trees than humans. We wanted a break from work and this crescent-shaped wedge of fine, white... More

Amanwella The resort is built along a beautiful sandy beach with coconut palms everywhere. The rooms have a typical Aman layout. Sliding doors and windows allow you to sleep with two sides of the room open to the tropical air. Compared to other Aman beach resorts the outside area of the room is relatively small including the plunge pool. The... More
