You can easily find something even four times cheaper for this standard right across the street. The owner's a bit unpleasant - he threw my Buddhist guest out of his property. On the first day, when I was most tired after the travel and wanted to rest, the air conditioning went out! Those few hours were terrible.

I stayed here for two nights, and really loved it. Sigiriya is a very quiet spot, so don't come for the raving nightlife, but Nilmini is very convenient, clean, and run by a really lovely family. The terrace and garden are beautiful, and a nice spot for sitting with a book and contemplating the tranquillity. The food was good, home-cooked... More

We stayed here for 2 nights - our room was 2000Rs per night with fan. Reasonably expensive but a good room. NIce garden and veranda to relax on - sociable too - as you can chat with the other guests and have dinner together. The dinner was ok (400Rs) - rice, dhal, salad and fruit in some sort of combination,... More

Nilmini lodge The evening meal was really good plenty to eat and hot and fresh; rice, Dahl, curried veg and salad and fresh fruit for pudding. It felt homely yet was the nicest setting in the street to eat. Cheaper than our previous hotel and given the lack of options in town a good bet.  The staff were all so... More

My partner and I spent 2 nights there in March 2012. They have different kinds of rooms, some very cheap and basic at the back (1,200 SR), but we chose one with air-conditionning (2,500 SR including breakfast). The room was simple and quite small, however the family are very friendly and I thought the food was good. She made noodles... More

My friend and I stayed at Nilmini for one night while we were visiting the rock at Sigiriya. The accommodation is basic but comfortable (1,200LKR for a twin room) and the family was very nice. When it comes to eating there though, I recommend going next door. Nilmini overcharges for the amount, and standard of food you receive. We did... More

It was the cheapest place we could find, small fan room with cold shower, but for 1 night enough. They have an internet cafe and offer wifi (300 rs per day if I remember well), meals and transport to any part of the island, not the cheapest, but for the ones that are not good at bargaining it is ok.... Pros: Rather close to the sigiriya rock with affordable rooms (had a doubles room for 2000Rs (non-ac)), rather clean rooms Cons: Lots of mosquitos, especially in the bathrooms

Only stayed one night for the purpose of climbing the rock. Paid 1500r for a twin room, cold water, no aircon, but had a fan, but this wasn't needed as they had the first rains in months that cooled everything down. The owners are lovely & cooked a delicious vegetarian meal for 5 of us. The meal was a bit... More

We stayed here 1 night after travelling from Polunurawa arriving about midday we were welcomed in, shown several rooms and even got a discount on top. We were sat down, given a cold drink and told not to think about climbing the rock until at least 3:30, good advise as it turned out. We had a lovely clean double room... More
