A very basic, but comfortable and charming guesthouse close to the bus and train station (about 150 rupees for a tuk tuk). You can easily get a tuk tuk into town too and to the bars and restaurants near the lake. The rooms are big and we had a nice veranda. Do not expect anything fancy and you will not... More

My family & I visited Kandy during the busy sinhalese new year, almost all the hotels were fully booked and we were in a panic to find a decent place to stay. I came across palm gardens offcial website and the pictures were somewhat apealing. Upon speaking to the owner Mr Malik, he arranged for us to stay 2 nights... More

If you are looking for a small, charming place, you should go to Mango Garden Hotel! The rooms are bright and clean, and you have a cute little porch. The receptionist is helpful and kind. The guesthouse is only 5 minutes away from the city, and you can walk to the supermarket. A big plus is the mosquito nets!!

We stayed 2 nights here- it is very basic- there was a pretty crazy ant problem in the bathroom, which was separate to the bedroom, so it didn't bother us too much. Good hot shower and nice airy room. Not right in Kandy town, but great getting a tuk tuk in. Very cheap and good breakfast provided. Made our backpacking... More

This is the first time I have actually not stayed somewhere after checking in. We stayed long enough to book a room elsewhere and left. Dirty, smelly, broken furniture in the room, a long way from where advertised and bugs everywhere (where we hadn't seen them elsewhere in Kandy!) a real shame as the rest of the trip has been... the best thing first.. one of the most helpful and friendly managers - the lady was really great! all in all the guesthouse is too expensive for what it offers. the guesthouse is outside kandy - it takes around 20-30 minutes to walk to the center. and you have to follow a rather noisy street with lots of traffic. (guesthouse... More

We ended up here after a dreadful experience at another guesthouse. The lady running the Palm Gardens was very helpful 'rescuing us' from the other place ad giving us her last room. The guesthouse isn't near town, its very close to the train line (TOOT TOOT!!!!!) not the station but it suited us for 2 nights. As with most accommodating... More

Stayed the nights of 8 and 9 Sep 2013 and paid US$30 per night for two adults and a 6-year-old in a room with three beds, private bathroom and a balcony. Towels provided. Access to good wi-fi included. Meals available on request. 15-20 minutes' walk from Kandy Train Station. Shops and a supermarket are nearby. Staff were helpful with local... More

What I like about this place: 1, The manager and staff is very nice and friendly. They've been running this place for quite long and they know the ins and outs about Kandy. Just talk to them and get all the info you needed to visit Kandy. The manager also pick me up from the translation with his own car.... More

Palm Gardens was not our first choice but we soon settled in and enjoyed our stay.Staff were generally friendly and helpful .The guesthouse is not near to town centre and it is not a pleasant walk into town so Tuk Tuk is necessary. Our room was comfortable but in need of a coat of paint especially in the bathroom as... More
