We found this lovely retreat through Lonely Planet. we were looking for a base in the kandy area for our first trip to Sri lanka and this did not disapoint. My boyfriend and I travelled for 2wks, around Sri Lanka-Jan 09, inc the s.coast & hill country- this was our favorite place to stay . Stonehouse Lodge have simple rooms (bathroom outdated) but in a very tranquil setting. A lovely outdoor seated area overlooking gardens and the mountains in the distance. Beautiful view from breakfast table. Dinner excellent - had a choice of 5 currys, rice and popadums. Very friendly service. About 15 mins outside of Kandy. Owner was away but his No 2 looked... more
