Queen's is an interesting place - it reminds me of some of the guest houses we've stayed in, in that the staff are super friendly but don't seem particularly competent at running a hospitality business, except Queen's is set in a grand old - and very much decaying - hotel. I was very grateful to survive our stay, as our... More

First a few positives, excellent location in the heart of Kandy opposite the lake. Massive structure is a legacy of the colonial past. But all this is spoilt by over worked and poor service staffing. For example, I had visited the hotel the day before check-in, and saw one Mr. Magada,at the recepsion actually to ensure a good accessible room... More

Went there in a group of 22 people in August....the place is in city center no doubt but other than location everything else is horrible.......old & shabby furniture, horrible and worst bathroom fittings ever used in my life, bad food, west wing is very far off, overall the experience is very very poor.....i would not recommend it to anybody.....i am... We chose the queens hotel because of it its central location and promise of faded colonial glory. It was reassuringly expensive so figured we were in safe hands. It certainly has a cool white expansive reception if a rather grubby looking bar and pool area but hey its "characterful" right? Our bedroom certainly was enormous but my wife discovered faeces... Great location - right in the centre of Kandy and next to the Temple of the Tooth. (This does, of course, mean that you get the noise of the city if you have a room at the front as we did, although those at the back, which our travelling companions had, were quieter). Queens is a lovely colonial era hotel... More

Despite of many negative reviews on this hotel, we had a really good time here. It has it's own charm, with a very nice elevator (going back in time). The location is perfect oppositie the Temple of Buddha's tooth. The staff is friendly. There is a good swimming pool. One advise: book a room at the poolside.

Its an old colonial hotel. High ceilings and the room looked like it was 1970. Also we had to walk very far to get to our room. Buffet was good but the whole furniture in the restaurant looked dated. The hotel in general could use a bit of renovation but maybe it would lose some of its charm then. So... More

We stayed two nights in two rooms and got 233/234 with interconnecting doors. The rooms are spacious and also the beds. Bathroom also big but a little old styled like the whole hotel. Breakfast was good with fresh fruits and eggs as you wish. Location is perfect with a 50 meter walk to the lake and Temple of the Tooth.... More
