Green Woods was recommended to us by our driver who was aware that we were on a budget. I think we may have miscommunicated somewhere along the line however as we weren't looking for anything this basic. The guest house is located a short tuk-tuk ride from the city centre but has stunning views of the forest. The rooms are... More

We received a hostile welcome when we arrive at this guest house. The owner got irate at our bid to barter the price down a bit. Room was slightly overpriced but fine apart from that but there was no luxury for the extra paid. Could see monkeys on balcony.

we were very disappointed with this place as it had been recommended by lonely planet. The host was very rude and hostel, the pillows had mould in them, and it is very far away from anything. The rooms are very basic for what you pay. The only good things were the views and the monkeys, but these are all over... More

You need to be on a budget or not mind quite basic locations because rooms are nothing special and quite next to the larger hall where someone could wake you up if getting in/out in the middle of the night. Apart from that it is in walking distance to the tooth and some nice pubs/restaurants and the view into the... More

We stayed at Green Woods Guest House for three nights. Although the bathroom could use an update the (hot) shower itself was alright. We enjoyed a couple of great rice & curries at this guest house. At the start of each day the monkeys on the balcony kept us company during our breakfasts at Green Wood, a truly unique experience.... More

Agreed to a price then they tried to charge us double. They lied and caused problems. They came into are rooms a lot and lights were turned on in are rooms when we were out which was an invasion of privacy and felt my stuff was unsafe. Nice hotel but not worth hassel.

I'm not really sure what to say about this place. Quite honestly, I wanted to leave immediately after seeing the room. However, the place grew on me (or I just adapted quickly because we didn't have another option). Room: Our room was off of the dining area, no natural window, dank bathroom with ants. It was clean enough (with hot... More

A quiet retreat from busy Kandy. Showers are basic with little or no hot water. But food and service is EPIC. Beds are good. Monkey's are worth it! Eating breakfast with them every morning. 10 minute walking distance from temples.

The view from the place is overrated since there is ugly building between the guest house and the forest. breakfast was great and the service friendly. the rooms could use some paint. the family room we stayed in was nice as it was down away from the dining hall. for us rooms in facing the dining hall would be horrible... We stayed here for 2 nights. The places seems to a long way out of town by tuk tuk but that's just because of the one way road system. It's actually only a pleasant 10 min stroll down to the temple of the tooth relic by the lake. The room was basic but fine. There are family of monkeys hanging... More
