We have chosen Jungle Tide as our first stop in Sri Lanka. From the Colombo airport to Kandy it takes some time to get there and if you chose this location as a place to stay, you have to count with another extra time. This place is very up to hill in the middle of the jungle far away from... More

Dear Alena We were a little disappointed that you only felt able to give Jungle Tide an "average" review since most of your concerns seemed to relate to the difficult road, which we had clearly explained to you in advance as we do to all our guests, and of course is out of our control. We take your point about... More

We had a 2 night stay here at the start of our recent trip to Sri Lanka. Everything about Jungle Tide is excellent. The house is very comfortable and the grounds very well presented; the staff provide superb service and food including the offer of tea and coffee at any time of day. Our bedroom was a nice size with... More

From our friendly welcome from Martin and Rani we knew that we were in for a relaxing time. What a wonderful cook Rani is the food was above all expectations the house was spotless and very comfortable the peace and quiet was enjoyable relaxing on the front verandah to the pleasant strolls through the tea plantations and village. The only... More

We were at Jungletide for four nights& were privileged to meet the owners Sally & Jerry who were at home during our sojurn & hence this effectively became a lovely homestay for us. The bungalow is about 11km from Kandy, the road going through a functioning tea estate. The last 3 km is not yet tarmacadamised & it would be... More

We have just returned from a month in Sri Lanka. A busy two weeks touring all the tourist sites and then two gloriously peaceful weeks at Jungle Tide. It is a large colonial style bungalow with wide verandahs set in a vividly coloured tropical garden. We had views across the hills, and a never ending display of wildlife on the... More

We spent a day and a night at Jungle Tide in February 2014. We immediately felt at home and welcome. the place is very peaceful and relaxing, ideal if you need a few quiet days. Food was absolutely superb, both dinner and breakfast. Definitely a must-do if you are travelling around Kandy and if you don't mind a rocky drive... More

It's about a 30 to 40 minute trip straight up the hill and through the tea plantation in Kandy. Suddenly you arrive at Junge Tide - a lovely house with a beautiful view over the tea plantation. It's quiet and peaceful - be careful of the sun which doesn't seem so hot this high but believe me it is! Martin... More

We had a good stay at this place as we were the only guests for 3 nights. Rani can cook really well and the dishes she's serving vary every night, so no opportunity to get bored with it. Martin is a real humble person and makes you feel welcome as well. As he wasn't around that much we unfortunately didn't... More

We stayed at Jungle Tide for three nights. The embrace we felt from the staff at Jungle Tide was as if we were old family friends. It was such a peaceful quiet location. Ideal for our 4 month old, 2 year old and two very tired parents. We felt we could get in touch with the real Sri Lanka here.... More

First, thank you so much for this lovely review. We are delighted you enjoyed Jungle Tide and we can only apologise for the power outages and the lack of a swimming pool. In fact the two are connected. The issue has only just been brought to our attention (we are in the UK) and is due to the requirements of... More

OK we agree and as noted in other reviews, the road to Jungle Tide is a challenge. However if you are seeking a tranquil location within a tea estate close to Kandy, then the road is also a very useful gatekeeper by limiting access. The property is located in a well elevated position with sweeping views to the north and... More
