We found serene since nothing else was available at the last minute. It is however a nice hotel at the top of a hill. The rooms are small but cosy & clean. We had our christmas dinner here and it was nice. You cant go walking to the lake and need a car to go anywhere, otherwise its a nice... More

Stayed here for the cricket - Hotel was very pleaseant and quiet. A good price for what you got. Breakfast was satisfying and the staff were friendly. The hotel organised transport to Pallekele stadium at what was a good price though it involved a little negotiation. Easy to get a tut tut into town to the shops restaurants and pubs.

Busy hotel with many guests staying for short period as part of touring Sri Lanka. Reception is on the top floor and the restaurant and lounge are beneath. Rooms at lower levels. Air conditioning worked well in room and the bed was comfortable. However, soft furnishings were stained an unappealing. The television only had 3 local channels. In the bathroom,... More

me and my family stayed two nights in a triple room, the room size was just ok, clean room and toilets, to get to the rooms you have to go through too many stairs and corridors like a maze. but the room balcony had a breath taking view of the green hills and the valley, no wifi in the room... We stayed for 2 nights here. The family room was enormous, but tiny bathroom and basic, for example, no functioning plug or hooks on the backs of doors. No satellite TV (and none of the family rooms appear to be connected to the satellite so this appeared not to be possible). No wifi in rooms and we were promised a... More

We got a room 701, it has an amazing view, room is big and clean. My young son was looking forward for seeing the monkeys there but we weren't so lucky. The pool wasnt much clean, although they clean it more than once a day, it gets attacked by insects and falling leaves right after they finish cleaning it. Its... More

We stayed here for one night, and paid the RAK rate because we were running out of options. For what you pay the experience doesn't equal. The rooms are average standard, bathrooms are clean. They don't put hand towels in the bathrooms which is strange. The breakfast was average. Nice views. Friendly staff. We did however have a lot of... More

Hotel is located on top of the hill overlooking the valley. As we had our driver with us throughout our stay, location was No problems. Otherwise, there is a long walk downhill to get to the lake & Temple of the Tooth Relic. There are lifts to get to the rooms. Well maintained rooms and all with balcony. Balcony my face... More

Serene Garden is just what the name suggests....Serene! Perched on a hillside with a view of the valley below, it is unbelievably quiet and peaceful. Breakfast is very good with a choice of continental as well as local breakfast including rice and spicy chicken curry which would please expat as well as local palates. However, Beware of the little monkeys... More

This hotel is on a hill overlooking the lake although our room did not have a view. The hotel was however clean with a beautiful hanging garden. The food was expensive like any other places in Sri Lanka. For a non vegetarian meal it costs around 1000 INR. The breakfast spread was really nice. The swimming pool was OK but... More
