3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a tour of Sri Lanka. It’s hard to give this hotel an overall rating since some things are very good and others are less than good. Somewhere in the middle therefore may be appropriate, so have gone for a 3. Let’s start with the good – nice location in terms of... More

Basically a great location but the service is poor at best and none existent at times. We battled to get a pot of coffee and tea at breakfast rather than a cup at a time. No tea spoons. Billed the wrong amount at dinner. Chased by three people to check the mini bar at checkout but noone to be seen... More

On the first day of our stay the Jacuzzi in our room did not work. When we came back in the afternoon of the second day we were told that the Jacuzzi has been fixed and tested and is safe to use. We went into the Jacuzzi and switched it on with still dry fingers. The bathtub itself was made... More

A good location of the hotel but the bedrooms are quite dated and very olds furniture.new stayed there just one night. The buffet was quite pricey and the Al a carte menu did not seem that great. Breakfast was OK. We booked at the last minute and the hotel insisted on full payment on arrival and delayed our departure to... More

This place has a great location but customer experience is awful. Rooms are not well designed, water logging everywhere (it did rain a bit), food is below international standards and much beyond all this the attitude and behavior of the management that runs this place is nothing you will ever see in any part of the civilized world. Management and... More

When we first arrived we had high expectations, because we had read the reviews. From the moment we arrived one particular staff member acted like we came to stay there for free. He kept questioning about the age of the children, food basis of the room (children only small children), residency of the guests, and demanded that we pay up... More

Amaya lake is a beautiful property on a stunning lake. we stayed there for 2 nights as a base to visit the cultural triangle. It is a perfect position literally minutes from Dambulla caves and less than half hour from Sigyria allowing for early start. As we had a lot of trips out i regret not having enough time to... More

Nice location and setting but very disappointed with cleanliness of room, food (both buffet and snacks). Staff not particularly helpful and did not know basic facts like distances to airports, attractions etc. no wifi in rooms and didn't work well in reception either. Hotel charges 5000 rupees for a 15 minute taxi transfer to the airport which is a disgrace... More

It would be a plus if you keep brochures of tourist attractions which are in the region as some tourists come on their own and not prepaired. Wi-fi in rooms would also be an advantage to some. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I went with a few foreign friends and they liked almost everything about Amaya Lake. The... More

The surroundings (the hotel is literaly by the lake) are really beautiful & idyllic and so are the cottages (we changed two of them and both were very nice and spatious). The pool area has a beautiful table in it's middle and a bar where you can take your drink day and night. Drinks are quite good but sometimes pricey,... More
