What a lovely hotel. We stayed here for 2 nights as a family of 3. Great cottages on huge green grounds by the lake that you can explore any time of the day or night. Lovely rooms, cottages actually. Very friendly staff, good food. We really enjoyed ourselves. Must stay on your way to Anuradhapura from Colombo.

Excellent high-end property, the lake is like a private watering hole! Go for the Signature Premier/Private Villas - huge, very spacious, the bathrooms were really cool (had to write that even though it sounds/reads weird) :) Great location, its a 15 min drive to the Dambulla Cave Temple/Golden Temple. The breakfast spread was massive with a good balance b/w local... More

Dambulla is always a good travel location for locals and tourists. It is central, non-urban, accessible to many tourist attractions and relatively rain free. There are so many tourist hotels in the area. Among them, Amaya Lake is one of my favourite spots. It is built on the edge of a lake, on the lake ground. Well designed architecture to... More

Staying here was like staying in a little wilderness retreat. The rooms are very spacious - like little homes spread across the resort. We enjoyed a meal by the pool and generally unwinding in our room. At dinner time, we recommend going to the a la carte restaurant (by golf buggy if you don't mind!) and claiming a spot next... I impulsively booked this place with my girlfriend and two friends, two days in advance, for one night. The plan was to go to Sigiriya to se the monument and temples, and have a comfortable stay overnight. And we sure had! The architecture of the resort is a classic plan with bungalows placed in the landscape along winding roads and... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night in July. The private villas were clean but the bathroom was a little buggy. Pool was fantastic, as were the lake views. Staff were friendly but not the most helpful. Breakfast buffet was mediocre.

My experience at the hotel Amaya Lake could not have been better. From the rooms that were always clean and with flower designs, to the restaurant service where I got to know three great professional hosts named Madhushani Senavirathna, Maheshika Dissanayaka and Yoan Rajitha. They would always be with a smile on their face, offering an excellent breakfast and extraordinary... More

The unique welcome of the 'Rabane' drums welcomes you to the hotel with it's chalets dotted amongst the manicured gardens. There is a tranquil spot by the lake with seating for a spot of meditation or quiet reflection. The staff are friendly and helpful and stop by tables for a chat to the guests, we were made to feel welcome.... More

stayed 5 nights. The room was spacious and the shower had good waterpressure, which is rare in Sri Lanka. The gardens are beautiful and the food they serve tastes great. The prices are a bit steep, but I think they are justified by the quality of the food. My only real gripe is the distance to Dambulla.
