We randomly chose this hotel one evening as we were driving through Dambulla. It was a very scary drive there... A dirt track for about 2km and after dark I started getting a bit worried. However the hotel was absolutely beautiful. The staff were very helpful and the food was great! The rooms were excellent; spacious and clean. Waking up... More

This was my second trip to this hotel and I have to say it has gone from being excellent to being simply outstanding. The quality of refurbishment of rooms (mostly the bathroom fittings) has really added to the enjoyment of staying here along with the outdoorsy elements (monkeys, bats, verandas, infinity pools) and quality of food mentioned by other guests.... After a long hot filled first day in Sri Lanka, coming around the corer to see this hotel lethally merging from the rocks it felt like a James Bond set, just minus the Aston Martin. Truly a magical moment and a welcome surprise. The attentive staff and hospitality personified was wonderful. The food is exceptional and plenty of choices for... More

Wonderful hotel with 3 beautiful, although small, pools. One was closed when we visited. The rooms were beautiful and the amount of wildlife in the hospital was crazy! There were bats flying around, monkeys outside the window and we even saw a mongoose in the corridor! The food was a brilliant mix of Sri Lankan food and the spa was... More

A beautifully designed hotel in the middle of a jungle in Central Sri Lanka. Location is ideal for trips to the "Cultural Triangle". Service is exceptional and staff are very keen to assist. The breakfast and dinner are excellent, in particular the Sri Lankan cuisine. You need to be prepared that there are inspects and mosquitos. After all, you are... More

One of the most magical places I have ever been to!! the hotel is carved into a cliff face and is a truly stunning piece of architecture!!! We stayed in one of the cheapest rooms but we still had an amazing view of the jungle and I took showers overlooking the same. Next trip to Sri Lanka should definitely include... More

From the time you arrive in this amazing hotel you are made welcome. The staff greet you in the traditional lovely Sri Lankan way, mbira you a welcome cool towel and take you to a seating area with a magnificent view.. And offer you a cool refreshing drink. The hotel is very typical Geoffrey Bawa style, natural rocks form the entrance... More

This hotel has scarred me: it's unlikely I will ever stay anywhere as nice. The food was excellent; the best Sri Lankan food we had in our entire trip (I hope my aunties don't read TripAdvisor!). The service was very discreet. Our room was lovely: I drank my coffee from our balcony accompanied by a local lizard, watching a hot... More

The place is remarkable. Like a dream. The flutist at the pool side at dawn add tranquilizing calm to the atmosphere. Early morning view over the lake is unforgettable. Even any one having a slightest love to the nature will surely admire the masterpiece of great architect Geoffrey Bawa.

We stayed 2 nights at this wonderful hotel during October 2011. The hotel is build using the rock formation of the area. I think there nothing to complain about the hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean. The food was good including the breakfast.
