What can you say about this hotel? A cross between Stansted airport, a conference centre, and a giant cafeteria. Stunning position, great staff, good food but lacking soul. Stay there and you'll have a good time...but then you'll know what we mean!! more

This Eco-hotel is located right among the wildlife in Dambulla, Sri Lanka. The architecture is unique, the staff is helpful and polite and the dinner buffet is rich in selection and quality. The pool, seamlessly overlooking the lake in the area and the Lion Rock of Sigirya in the background, is a reason itself to visit the hotel I think. more

It was unexpected surprise. Amazing place in the middle of a jungle. Full of monkeys and sqiurrels. The stuff is so friendly...smiling all the time and trying their best to please you. Complete peace and serenity. The food is awesome, especially the steak in lunch - the best thing I've ever tried :) Funny thing is taking a shower or... more

Not cheap by any standards but this has to be the ultimate in getting awayfrom it all and spoiling yourselves rotten, the location is beyond words, the rooms are gorgeous and getting woken up by monkeys on your balcony is a treat. Wonderful wonderful wonderful more

Our second stop on 2 week trip and base for our trek around the cultural triangle. Stayed 2 nights. Room was a decent size although a little dark. It appears the hotel had a refurb but the common areas still seem a bit old and kitsch. The bathroom was a little old and there was a lack of towels however... more

If you are in Sri Lanka then make a point of staying in this hotel - it is fabulous. The rooms are very tasteful and comfortable but the bathroom is the seller - you get to bubble in a huge double jacuzzi bath with a massive glass wall looking out over the jungle, the lake and the mountains with monkeys... more

I stayed at the Kandalama in 2006 for a week, during an annual conference for my company. The hotel design is ecologically friendly, unobtrusively constructed on/in a hilltop, and covered and surrounded by the rainforest. Occasionally you will be visited by friendly monkeys in your balcony, especially if your leave a few pieces of fruit there :) The hotel is... more

I stayed in Kandalama hotel from 7 to 11 Nov 2009. First two days were on my own and wanted to enjoy the surrounding natural beauties, the lake, the hills, the green fields and the huge hotel. Such a serene place. The hotel is not an ordinary hotel, the moment you are received, immediately you start feeling important. The way... more

We spent two nights in this hotel, on our Sri Lanka tour. This is a fantastic hotel and I have never seen anything like this. It looks like it is embedded in the hill and it is covered with trees. You can hang out with monkeys, they walk free all around and sometimes come to visit you in your room... more
