Very friendly and helpful owners. The father showed us every tree an gave us many local fruits to try. Multilingual and communicative son, who gave us many infos for our trip and helped us to organise an elephant riding trip. The local dinner was delicious. The rooms on the groundfloor are renovated.

We found Dambulla to be a very expensive place when it came to accommodation. Saman's was about the best value we found but the rooms are looking a bit tired and could do with a thorough clean. This close to the tropical jungle it's never going to be perfect though. We really enjoyed our stay of two nights. The curry... More

The room it's pretty old, doors barely close, full of Mosquitos. The price is really high for what it is, and they charge you service tax in the final bill!! The location is good indeed near the cave temple, and the restaurant is pretty delicious, but not cheap. Nice for a short stay, but for the money you pay you... More

Although we didn't stay at Saman's, we had two delicious 'rice and curry' banquets on the same day. Saman is a great host - he went to lengths to make ensure that we experienced true Sri Lankan hospitality, and to this end he went out of his way to make sure we had ample food at each meal - if... Saman and his family are very friendly, welcoming people. The room was clean and quiet - no mean feat so close to the Kandy road - the bed was comfortable and the hot water and wifi worked fine. I was extremely happy to stay here, and at such a good price. I would definitely recommend staying at Saman's.

I managed to get a room upstairs with breakfast included for much cheaper than originally listed, and this is the only way this place would have been worth it for me. My room was spacious; bed had an adequate mosquito net; A/C worked incredibly well. After a few plumbing problems, my bathroom worked fine too. The family is kind, but... More

I would highly recommend anyone who wants to meet a lovely and very funny Sri Lankan family to come and stay here! They really looked after me, starting with Nekeshi and Damith coming to fetch me from the bus station free of charge as there had Been some problems with tuk tuk drivers in the area before, then feeding me... I left with mixed feelings. With a little bit of bedroom maintenance and some proper room cleaning the whole experience could improve. The bathrooms are spotless, clean, and very nice looking, and have hot water. The bedroom not as clean though with spiders and their cobwebs in every corner and dust everywhere. And the room needed some maintenance: a little... More

The Saman was our first place to stay in Sri Lanka. The owner was very kind and put us all in one room (2 adults and 3 kids). The room was clean and with A/C (b ready for mosquitos). Generally speaking it is a decent deal for who plan for limited budget

4 people stayed for 3 nights. Mr Saman provided us with a fantastic and unlimited dinner with (contrary to other reviews) rapid service on our first night staying in this very welcoming guest house. We were provided with 8 or 9 dishes that just kept refilling! The kind gentleman even wandered down the street to buy us a cake when... More
