We stayed here for one night, the hotel is very close to Dambulla cave temple and on the first look looks everything inside in a good style and well, but: - until 1meter height is all around the room mold -Bet is not comfortable -AC stops to work after 10 min - Toilet not working - Hot water without flow... Family-run guesthouse with standard rooms (fan or a/c), nothing fancy, but well maintained and clean plus the best rice and curry we had on our whole trip! Friendly and helpful service with a lovely collection of statues and paintings (also for sale)!

We had a nice stay at Saman's House for two nights. The place is very friendly, near to the center (15min walk). The rooms need a small refresh but they are confortable ad clean. And the food is really good, the owner and his family are very nice and helpful.

We NEVER rate any place Terrible. This is a first but cannot go without being said. Our entire stay was issue after issue. More or less their fault I'd say but overall we had a TERRIBLE time. When we first arrived, we were proposed a downstairs room that was in itself quite nice and a very nice bathroom BUT the... More

Very friendly and helpful owners. The father showed us every tree an gave us many local fruits to try. Multilingual and communicative son, who gave us many infos for our trip and helped us to organise an elephant riding trip. The local dinner was delicious. The rooms on the groundfloor are renovated.

We found Dambulla to be a very expensive place when it came to accommodation. Saman's was about the best value we found but the rooms are looking a bit tired and could do with a thorough clean. This close to the tropical jungle it's never going to be perfect though. We really enjoyed our stay of two nights. The curry... More

The room it's pretty old, doors barely close, full of Mosquitos. The price is really high for what it is, and they charge you service tax in the final bill!! The location is good indeed near the cave temple, and the restaurant is pretty delicious, but not cheap. Nice for a short stay, but for the money you pay you... More

Although we didn't stay at Saman's, we had two delicious 'rice and curry' banquets on the same day. Saman is a great host - he went to lengths to make ensure that we experienced true Sri Lankan hospitality, and to this end he went out of his way to make sure we had ample food at each meal - if... Saman and his family are very friendly, welcoming people. The room was clean and quiet - no mean feat so close to the Kandy road - the bed was comfortable and the hot water and wifi worked fine. I was extremely happy to stay here, and at such a good price. I would definitely recommend staying at Saman's.

I managed to get a room upstairs with breakfast included for much cheaper than originally listed, and this is the only way this place would have been worth it for me. My room was spacious; bed had an adequate mosquito net; A/C worked incredibly well. After a few plumbing problems, my bathroom worked fine too. The family is kind, but... More
