Like many places in Saint Louis, this place hasn't been kept up. Courtyard is beautiful, but rooms are dark and faded and sometimes broken. Oddly, there's lots of strange murals of naked Senegalese mulatto women all over the hotel, even in the rooms. Breakfast is basic and wifi is slow. Wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to pay... I've stayed at La Maison Rose twice in the past 6 months. The rooms are damp and a bit mildewy. All windows are covered so as to block all light. Decor is dated, although the bathrooms are quite nice. The rooms do, however, have refrigerators. A nice roof top bar and small breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely exterior... More

With our little family we visited Senegal and used 'la maison rose' as home to visit and enjoy the northern part of Senegal. We enjoyed every minute of it. I liked the calm and lazy :-) atmosphere in the city as well as the smiles and helpfulness in the hotel. Very nice big and comfortable rooms!

I loved every minute of our 5 day stay in this beautiful historic hotel. The room and the whole hotel was charming. The staff was very helpful. Don't expect 5 star business hotel standards folks; it's a romantic historic inn in the former colonial capital of West Africa!

Depending on your expectations, hotel is very basic: deco is outdated, rooms smell humidity, water tanks barely had hot water for one hot shower, room paint is pealing off, out of all places i stayed in Senegal this one needed mosquito nets most and it is not have it, food was basic, etc…Yes, property is large, but has not been... this hotel is in the centre of the 'old village'. The village is very basic, so do not expect luxury here! The building is very charming, rooms are large and nicely decorated (pity that the sheets and covers were not so clean). Bathroom could do with a simple upgrade; hide the boiler, add some furniture, fix the toilet seat, and... More

Has potential because of inherent charm of the building, but staff just OK. Most other hotels we have stayed at in Africa have been quite welcoming. In addition, facilities are barely average for the higher end tourist circuit. Perhaps we could have done better in this city; not sure......

When we booked the room we were told only the suite is available, but we did not expect the apartment we had. Dining, lounge, bedroom, dressing and bath were big rooms each. Staff was very friendly and the balcony overlooking the river was one of our favourite spots. We were very happy with the room and the court yard and... More

Stayed at this hotel a few days ago and it is a really nice hotel. Full of charm, color and huge rooms (I stayed at a first floor suite). Unfortunately the breakfast is not much to write home about and avoided; better head to the "boulangerie" around the corner, buy a fresh baguette, walk across the street to the corner... More

The building and the courtyard are pretty. For rooms, it all depends where you are staying: the cheaper rooms on the ground floor are not as nice as the more expensive ones. Although I like the cool African deco, the do not expect luxury. We've stayed here several times while living in Dakar and visiting Saint Louis. The restaurant upstairs... More
