Well, this is the only hotel in my Romanian travels where I skipped taking a shower in the morning and got out of the place early. In its hey day this hotel must have been a Cold War mid level Communist Party official hotel and has not been refurbished since. Shabby and poor lighting. The hotel has 3 stars per the Romanian system. Guess the elevator and the cable tv puts the hotel in the category. The breakfast room was so smoky in the morning I was getting sick, but the food was even sicker looking. We grabbed some bread and got out of there. I did not feel comfortable here. Dark and empty hotel. My guidebooks misled me on this one. I paid like $36 for a single in September 2003.

Had a decent meal at the Hotel Carpati. A new pensione in the countryside near Sapanta could be an alternative. My travel agent and I had a good laugh about the place. Live and learn. This really is 1 or 2 star hotel.
