This was our fourth trip to Huaraz and as always, we stayed with Maruja and Gilf. The hostel is nicely located - a short taxi or collectivo ride from the central plaza in Huaraz but in a quiet, safe neighborhood with hiking trails and old ruins just a flight of stairs away! The rooms are clean and welcoming with warm... More

Gilf and his wife Maruja where very helpful on our trip to Huaraz. Breakfast was great, room was clean and comfortable. He is a very skilled and informative hiker and knows the area very well. Taxi 5 minutes to town, there is a brewery within walking distance. Overall great stay and would highly recommend.

Stayed here before doing the Santa Cruz Trek. They provided us with a trip up to the start of the trail for pretty cheap, and started us off right with a large breakfast! Freshly squeezed juice, coca tea to welcome you, and clean, private rooms. Was a great place to stay and was very easy to access the city..there are... More

My husband and I headed to Huaraz with the primary goal of summitting Pisco. However, what we came away with was much much more. Getting to know Maruja and Gilf during our time at their B&B was a gift. They are two of the kindest people on earth and we feel lucky to have met them and hope for they... More

I can honestly say that you will not meet a kinder, more efficient or attentive host and hostess than Gilf and Maruja. We arranged our Alpamayo circuit trek in advance, on line, based on good reviews on this site. The service was excellent. We got a very warm reception (they are both lovely, and Gilf speaks perfect English). We turned... More

but Gilf and Maruja definately make you feel like their home is your home. They were constantly ensuring that you had everything you needed. They are arranged our pick up at the airport and we hiked with Gilf on a 4 day through the Santa Cruz and Punta Union Pass. Gilf made sure that we did not over exert ourselves... More

Gilf was very helpful in suggesting and helping us set up tours. Fresh orange juice and hot tea and/or coffee every morning with eggs most mornings and pancakes (more like crepes--mmm) some mornings made a good start every morning. The beds were comfortable and we had hot water every shower (water pressure varied depending on how many people were showering... More

Maruja and her husband were both lovely people. Whenever I had questions on where to go or visit there were available to accomodate my inquiries. Another reviewer said the breakfasts were spartan, but I found the fresh squeezed juice, coffee/tea, toast with butter and jam and lovely eggs just perfect to start the day. The rooms were large and always... More

We stayed for four nights with Gilf and Maruja. Gilf's English is excellent, and he and his wife were very kind to us throughout. They put us in a beautiful triple room at the back of the hostel with panoramic views of Huascaran mountain - amazing. We'd asked for a double (forgetting that Peru calls these 'matrimonial rooms'), but didn't... More

I highly recommend this guest house. It is a very pleasant and comfortable place to stay. It is owned and managed by Gilf and Maruja, who are friendly, helpful, and hard-working. Gilf is also an excellent trekking and climbing guide who organized and lead our fabulous 10-day Alpamayo Circuit trek.
