Dona Maruja is very nice and helpful but the accommodation listed on the trsvel guide Lonely Plane is much less than expected to taste the local atmosphere in Ahuamo. The other accommodaation there is La Casa del Suizo which charges $100.00 per night. .Only the river view is nice at Casa Maruja. The photo here displayed is not what I... More

I have recently completed Huayhuash trek along with group of 14, with Colonia adventures who operate various treks in Peru and neighbouring countries and operates and owns La Casa de Maruja B&B. During our time in Peru, we were hosted by Gilf and his family in La Casa de Maruja. As a whole, we had an excellent time in Peru,... More

I do not normally give hostels 5 stars, but this place is great. We were welcomed to check in at 6:30am after an overnight bus ride. After showing us to our room we were also invited down for breakfast whenever we were ready. Breakfast had several options... Hot options that included eggs! They will also arrange all of your hiking... More

was my 3rd stay as I arrange all my trekking through Colonia Adventures. Gilf and Maruja have gone to a lot of effort to make the hostel even more comfortable and like a home for travellers. Delicious breakfast included, comfy beds, spotlessly clean and the new system provides plenty of hot water. My spacious room had a view of Huascaran.... More

We had a great stay here last August. All our trekking trips were organised through the B & B and I would recommend La Casa de Maruja B & B to stay. Only a short taxi ride into town too. Breakfast was a good start to the day and the staff were very helpful and provided very good local knowledge.

What a deal! What an experience! Highly recommend! Less than USD 1.00 to taxi into downtown Huaraz (5-10 minutes). Owners are very friendly and accommodating, and they possess all needed local knowledge including hiking/trekking/climbing. We were so impressed, we paid owner Gilf to lead us on Santa Cruz trek.

Although a short 5 minute taxi ride out of town, and despite a bit of a mix up on our arrival, this is a very good value hostel. The staff were warm, friendly and very helpful. Definitely recommended.

I visited Peru for a number of years when climbing in the Cordillera Blanca. As an owner of the International Mountain Climbing School in North Conway, NH I used La Casa de Maruja as a base for all of our expeditions. Gilf and Maruja are the perfect host and hostess. They genuinely care about each person and did their best... More

La Casa de Maruja is located on the eastern edge of Huaraz, giving immediate access to the foothills for walking and acclimatization before heading to the mountains. The owners have a long, successful history in the tourist industry. They know how to make arrangements for your adventures. They can help with all aspects of your trip, including making arrangements for... More

Gilf and his wife were amazing hosts and our stay with them was fantastic. Their place was clean and quiet with a nice rooftop patio complete with amazing views of the Cordillera Blanca. Gilf helped us plan everything from transportation to our next destinations, day trips to local hikes from the B&B to ordering the best local pizza delivered. It... More
