4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

It all started from a wrong foot, "meet and greet" flop. Disoriented, stranded at the railway station, lost in the numerous counters selling souvenirs and surrounded with zero percentage of English speakers, we managed to get to the hotel walking under the drizzle. Otherwise, it was a fabulous stay. Fully equipped room, excellent restaurant with delicious alpaca carpaccio, design, both... More

From the moment we checked in (warm, efficient and friendly ) to the treats brought to the room, evening towel and chocolate service, delicious dinner and five star service, comfortable room, sumptuous breakfast, cooking class and lastly, at time of departure, when I mentioned ny backpack was a little heavy... The offer of meeting us with our bags at the... More

I think this hotel is as much of a five-star place as you are going to get in a town like Aguas Cailientes at the bottom of Machu Picchu. If you try to compare it to a hotel you would give five stars in a city in the US, that is not really a fair comparison. The food was really... More

Visiting Machu Pichu this was the hotel that our travel agent booked for us. I was looking forward to 5 star treatment but I must say it didn't quite live up to the rating. The room was small and quite noisy and the restaurant nothing special.

not sure why this is rated #1. The rooms are modest, the staff nice and the food mediocre. The manager, Luis, was very helpful checking us in. It has a good location near the bus and trains. Caters to a lot of group tours so it's a bit crowded and noisy at some meals. The Inketerra's secluded property and beautiful... More

The view of the room was stunning. Very nice staff, quite good restaurant, great location, on the way to machu picchu ( the bus stops at the hotel) and far enough from the ugly and overpricy" aguas calientes" city center.I found it expensive, though. If you must stay at aguas calientes, this is the hotel!

Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel is a true gem. Prior to arriving, we had been contacted to setup everything we needed for a perfect stay -- and perfect it was! From the welcome at the train station, cooking class, guest services as well as restaurant staff, we couldn't have been treated better!

We had an incredible stay at Sumaq. The hotel-start to finish was perfect. Highlights included a 5 star meal (delicious), excellent service all around, a great leg/foot massage, delicious wine, a fantastic room and a beautiful environment. Strongly suggest booking this hotel as a treat-you will not regret it!
