Nice enough hotel for your trip to Macchu Piccu. But nothing about the hotel makes you feel "special". Restaurant is good for breakfast and dinner (which usually included in the price.) two blocks from the train you came on, three blocks from the bus that will take you up the mountain.

We stayed here after a 5 day hike on the Salcantay trail. Our tour group gave us the option of upgrading and it was definitely worth the $; king size bed, lovely shower (with blow dryer!!!!), separate waiting room (great for storing dirty hiking clothes). We didn't spend much time at the hotel (left the town within 24 hours of... More

We stayed one night. Location was great. Plenty of restaurants opposite the hotel. We added dinner in our hotel rate, dinner was a bit pricy and reasonably good, nothing special and not many choices. More variety in restaurants, and cheaper. Included Pisco Sour welcome cocktail. Looked after our luggage when we checked out to go to the Machu Picchu site.

Stayed here for one night between visits to Machu Picchu. Right in the heart of town which is pretty small. Very nice, new looking modern hotel which had nice design. The room was very clean. Beds were comfortable and linens were nice. TV was ok but didn’t get many channels. The bathroom was very good, A bit small but all... More

We arrived at The El MaPi after 3 days on the Inca Trail. Pros: 1. nice breakfast 2. Good location 3. Nice Bar, the free Pisco Sour was definitely not the best we had in Peru. 4. Free wireless. Cons: 1. No tubs 2. jacuzzi was broken. We just wanted to soak our sore limbs! 3. Every time a door... More

My fiancée and I stayed in this hotel for one night after spending the day exploring Machu Picchu and found it the perfect end to a wonderful day. The hotel is owned and run by the Inkaterra group and has a 'green' focus, with internal courtyards filled with plants scattered around the main building that offer views of the surrounding... More

Hotel is relatively modern, light and comfortable. Having a bathrobe was a nice touch. Location is convenient to the bus to Machu Picchu. Large selection of food items for breakfast - including made to order omlettes. It is a hotel used by groups - so meals can be chaotic - especially breakfast when all the tables are taken.

We stayed one night at El Mapi during our visit to Machu Picchu and it exceded our expectation. The hotel is beyond 3 star standard in my opinion, our room was good size and clean. Our dinner was included and was very tasty. They have happy hour from 5:30pm to 7pm (2 cocktails for 21 soles) which is pretty good.

I'm sitting writing this in the El Mapi bar supping hot chocolate (you get a jug (3 mugs) for 8 soles - ie about £2) with a shot of whisky for good measure and looking out the window people watching (girls can multitask you know!) Its raining so its a good spot and they have comfy settees to sit on.... More

The buffet was good but we were affected by it. They take ages to get something new when it finished. The potatoes are rare the meat is Ok and the herbal tees are good. service a bit lacking too. The drinks came after ages
