I think we have to realise this town is just a holding area for people visiting MP, and the hotels have no reason to improve/update, as people will always stay here. So based on that, this hotel isn't that bad, as it was generally comfortable, and we were only staying one night. Collected from the train station as promised buy... More

My experience with this hotel wasn't good. My room was 503, at arrival the lift was not working, so had to walk up the stairs with the luggages. Eventually the lift got fixed. I went to reception to get a coffee, they had a coffee machine but it was also not working. There was no wifi fi in the room,... More

We prepaid our 2 night stay, and regret it. We would not have stayed the second night had we not been stuck. The location was ok because it's the highest one in the city. That said, the trek there was a beating since there are no cars and it's at the top of a San Fransisco-like hill. The sign in... More

This place is basically a holding tank for people overnighting before their visit to Machu Picchu. Basic accommodation with few amenities. Rooms are tired. Bathtubs are weirdly contoured. Staff was friendly and helpful. Very long, tiring, uphill, climb on foot with your luggage to reach the hotel, as buses can not navigate the narrow streets. To go anywhere in town,... More

Agua Calientes is not a nice town and is just a place to stay one night on your way to Machu Picchu. The hotel was functional and fine. We were met at the station and walked to the hotel as we were at the top of the hill. The hotel found us a guide for Machu Picchu and went out... More

The attendance was very helpful, even received an upgrade compared to the room we booked. But in the beginning of the stay requested that the payment did it and we had the sad surprise that they are not accepting credit card problem by the machine (which already had the certificate before accepting). Apart from that, everything went well.

We were on a 3-week tour of Peru and Bolivia and stayed in three hotels in the Taypikala chain. They were all, BY FAR, the best hotels of our trip. Each one was 4-5 stars by American standards. Taypikala Hotel in Agua Calientes is as close to Machu Piccu as you can get. It is located next to a beautiful... More

I stayed at the Taypikala Hotel in Aguas Calientes in December 2014, and will have to say that it is on the higher end of the cost spectrum in the Machu Picchu area, and not worth the extra cost. My group paid $179 USD for 3 people in 1 room. The hotel is located near the hot springs, which means... More

I expected a lot more from this hotel, but it disappointed me for its price and services. Staff is great but it's services are not worth it in terms of their breakfast buffet (horrible), hotel food it's horrible, Wifi connection does not work in the rooms, TVs are small, Bathroom are great, bed and room it's fine, the view it's... We checked in here after completing the Inca Trail. We were glad we did. The rooms are spacious and pretty luxurious from what I've seen in Peru. The hotel is modern and clean. The staff members were very helpful. The touristy attractions of the town are all in easy reach of the property. All in all, it was a great... More
