We were going to be in Aguas Calientes (the base for Machu Picchu) for just one night and were not looking for something extraordinary, but just an affordable, basic place in a good location. Varayoc is just that. This is a no-frills place that is clean. There was an attached private bathroom with our room, which wasn't high class but... More

Nice place to stay overnight for your early morning trip to Macchu Picchu. The hotel is located literally a couple of mins from the station. Most people will arrive by train and the owner waited for us at the train station to pick us up. Breakfast starts at 4.30am. Bus station to go to macchu picchu is right outside the... More

Take the ARCHED bridge from the train station and you are there. Look down to your left as you are on the bridge and you will see the hostel. Clean rooms, nice staff and breakfast starts at 4:30 for your early trip to Machu Picchu. If you are not getting up super early, ask for a room off the street... More

This isn't a fancy place, but great advice and brilliant location for the early start to get to Machu Picchu for sun rise. The room was clean and certainly big enough for me, but not spacious...fabulous hot water showers. Wifi was strong most of the time. The 5th floor for breakie was great as it looks directly down on the... More

This is a good budget hostal if you only stay one or two nights to go to Machu Picchu. The hostal is located very close (same street) where you take the bus to go to Machu Picchu, which is great if you're trying to be one of the firsts in line. Breakfast was good with eggs and bread and they... More

Very good place to stay overnight. Close to the train station (go thru Market place and cross the bridge and you are there) and buses to Machu Picchu (100 m). Clean and very basic. what I didnt liked, there was no WiFi overnight. Our room has one small window on the bathroom and one window seeing nowwhere. The owners/staff were... More

Cannot in good conscience give Varayoc more than 4 stars, but this hostel is great for what it is: a rare budget option in Aguas Calientes. The service was very nice - we were met at the train by a very sweet woman who took us to Varayoc (a very short walk from the train station) who was helpful throughout... More

The Hostal Varayoc is a great place to stay in Aguas Calientes. the owners are attentive and waited for us in the train station. The hostel are simple but very comfortable. Also, the staff ask you the departure hour to Machu Picchu to prepare your breakfast. In our case, we took the excellent breakfast at 4:30am!!! I definitely recommend this... More

My only real complaint is the front desk staff. They often lock the front door and leave. Sometimes you get locked in, sometimes you get locked out. Everything else was a good value for the money. I would recommend this place. Breakfast starts as early as you need it.

I'm not sure if this hostel even exists. I was met at the train station by a woman with a sign with my name. I followed her back to the hostel, which was above a restaurant, where she spoke to me in Spanish. I had already been in Peru for 11 days at this point and my Spanish isn't great,... More
