If you have the chance (and the means) - go for the upscale rooms. The first night I spent here was in a standard room. While it was OK and good for my needs, it was a bit small and run down and a bit noisy too. This is the type of room I would expect in a simple guest... More

We enjoyed our meal at the Pacific Gardens. A bit out of the main part of town, the hotel sits on beautiful and tranquil grounds, a real protected oasis for those who are feeling a bit overwhelmed by the crowds in town. Our meal was well served and delicious, prices are reasonable for the area. Not as grand as the... More

Travel to this part of the country quite a lot for business, very unhappy with rooms and hot water. The food is not the best but staff are very friendly Next time will be staying at the bird of paradise

Obviously in this part of the world, you set your expectations fairly low. By PNG standards, Pacific Gardens is a solid, if a bit unremarkable choice. Rooms are big, clean, and well equipped, if lacking any particular wow factor. Good water pressure in the showers, which is a rarity even at this end of the price scale in PNG. Staff... More

Spent just the 1 night here as part of an overnight visit to the highlands to see the Asaro Mudmen. My son had made the booking through Wotif for a twin room. At check in we had been given a double bed which was immediately rectified. The room was clean and spacious, bathroom- older but clean and toiletries were provided.... More

Compared to many hotels in Papua New Guinea the Pacific Gardens Hotel was a pleasant place to stay. The room was clean. The service was friendly and efficient and the foiod at the restaurant was very good. In fact I have no complaints at all. The hotel is set in a very pleasant garden atmosphere and there are no worries... More

Good place to stay, very helpful staff, and good food in the restaurant. I stayed in two different rooms--definitely get the newer rooms--they are much nicer and larger, although the older rooms are clean and fine as well. Both had lovely hot showers and a hotpot to heat water for coffee. The housekeeping staff were nice enough to clean pounds... More

I stay here every time I go to Goroka, usually several weeks a year. Never had a problem. They have a good backup power system for the frequent blackouts in Goroka. It is a relaxed atmosphere. The cleaning staff are really courteous and the rooms are spotless. The relaxed atmosphere sometimes extends a bit too much to the wait staff... More

After staying at the Melanesian Hotel in Lae, and the Highlander in Mt. Hagen, it was a lovely surprise to find a hotel did not feel like 3-star quality charging 5-star prices. We arrived at the Pacific Gardens hotel on a hot day for a 2-night stay. It felt like we walked into a lovely cool oasis surrounded by beautifully... More
