A friend arranged a 1 night getaway for a group of 10 of us. I wasn't too keen initially as I read quite a number of negative reports. The resort is nice, as what is expected of a typical higher end resort. For the price charged, the room did not really blow me away. The beach and water however is... More

Absolutely amazing resort, great rooms, the staff is incredibly friendly and will no everything in their power to make your stay as comfortable and special as possible. For those who like scuba diving and snorkeling, it's like swimming in an acquarium. The beach is white and well looked after. I would definitely reccomend it!

We visited the whole world but found this location to be the most stunning we have ever seen. Clear water with tropical fishes & turtles around you within a few meters from the beach. Ideal place to come with young children, the beach is very nice and the sea is quiet. Hotel is 5x and one of the best in... More

Amazing location, we have travelled all around the world but this is the most beautiful spot ever...private beach, clear water, turtles & tropical fishes around you within meters from the beach. Great hotel, good service - we live in KL and now how bad the service can be in Malaysia - nice staff. We travelled with our two young daughters... More

Was there with a group of friends in June this year. Great service and place. A must visit. although price a little high, but it is worth every single cent. As good as Maldives, but cheaper. Good nice beach and diving spot.

We stayed at The Taaras at the beginning of August 2014. The hotel was quite busy but our experience in it was very positive. The beach is wonderful, the room we were in was lovely and very comfortable, the staff is very kind and keen to satisfy the guest's needs. If you are looking for a relaxing place that will... More

The Taaras is allegedly the best hotel on the beautiful island of Redang. We (a couple with 3 teenage boys aged 16, 14 and 11 years old) spend 8 days here in early August and left the place with somewhat mixed feelings. The beach is incredible - among the best we have seen, including the Caribbean and the Red Sea.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
‘The Taaras’ is a bespoke Private Beach Residence, tucked away and hidden from the outside world on a small Island found just off the unspoilt East Coast of tropical Malaysia. Considered to be one of the most beautiful Island locations in the South China Sea, the Isle of Redang is home to our natural, yet stylish resort found on one of the most spectacular bays surrounded by one of the bluest oceans on earth. The resorts ethos is to provide a contemporary, barefoot luxury experience with warm Asian hospitality, remembered with a smile long into the future. The name of the property is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘TAARA’, meaning ‘Star or Apple of my eye’ as well as ‘Goddess of the Sea’ which are all represented and epitomised by our mermaid figurehead. The resort is managed by The Taaras Luxury Group, and was formerly known as Berjaya Redang Resort managed by Berjaya Hotels and Resorts. With the stylish suites and rooms, as well as a stunning five bedroom Private Villa perched high up on the cliff overlooking the ocean and resort below. The resort boasts commissioned furniture and bespoke photography of Redang Island and the landscapes of Malaysia. Each suite or room contains oversized beds and hand-picked linens and fabrics for your comfort. Most rooms and all suites have larger washrooms containing both bath tub and separate rain or monsoon shower (some with spa bathtubs looking out over the rainforest or the bay). Most residences have an outdoor balcony or verandah and our suites at the top of the cliff summit have spectacular views over the beach and ocean below. For clients who prefer or require further privacy ‘The Cliff Private Villa Bay & Sea View’, our private five bedroom residence perched high up on the cliff more than meets the requirements; private access, a Villa Host at your ‘beck and call’ as well as twenty four hour security; should it be a necessary requirement. The residence also enjoys a sixteen meter Infinity swimming pool, personal fitness room and both interior and exterior lounge. ... more   less
