We've traveled and stayed extensively throughout Southeast Asia as we have lived in Singapore for the last 3 years. I feel that I've seen a lot in terms of hotels and guesthouses that are in a wide range of price ranges and tastes. The stays that we've had in Malaysia have not been the most comfortable and do not offer... More

Coral Bay is low profile and quiet compared to Long Beach. Unless you want to party all night long, suggestion is to stay and eat on C. Bay then hike the 15 min walk to Long Beach to spend the day and have a good swim (beware of currents though!). And C. Bay is much cheaper than L. Beach (lodging,... More

I stayed in Maya Guesthouse during my diving certification and it was arranged by the dive centre. I was happy staying in Maya Guesthouse. The staffs are friendly and the room & bathroom are clean. It's a bit old but it's comfortable. For me, it's a perfect stay for budget backpackers. We had our breakfast at the restaurant next to... More

To be fair, the overall standard is not very high on the Perhentians. But we were still quite disappointed by the Maya Guesthouse. The rooms are small, dirty, very hot and the fan didn't really work, at least in our room. The owners/staff was unfriendly, or just too "laid-back" to care about their customers. They spent the whole day lying... More

Just Stayed here for 2 nights & was impressed with the fact they let us book in advance as some other places don't give you the option !! our room was bright clean & the location was great - for 80 ringit we got a Chalet with en suite bathroom & I really like the large garden area too. Booked for 4 nights, stayed for 3. I've stayed here in august with my girlfriend. We arrived at 11 am in the morning, we went to the chalet with the staff laying in hammocks and only told us check in was at 2 pm. and told us to wait. We waited with our backpacks at a nearby restaurant with the... More

Maya Guesthouse is made of a few wooden chalets with fan and basic amenities such as generator powered electricity from 7.00pm until 7.00am and Mozzie nets, which is situated on the Beautiful calm Coral bay. The chalets on the beachfront with sliding doors are slightly better than the Garden view as it gets more breeze from the sea. Run by... More

We had a really long journey to get to Perhentian Islands, we think the beach is really beautiful and nice, but all the accomodations there suck. They ask WAY too much money for a backpacker, the boat drops you and then everybody runs to find a good place too sleep. Our last option was the Maya , the rooms smell... More

My honeymoon trip to Perhentian Island so excited until i book up my stay for a night at Maya. Everything change from excited to worst, they don't provide towel, soap, and electric kittle. Muslim family avoid this chalet because they don't have 'sejadah' and kiblat arrow. Like Horror Chalet..facilities In This Chalet is Only smelly Bad Without Blanket.this Is The... More
