I stayed in this hotel for two nights. Very average. The wifi was hopeless. Absolutely no signal in my room. Strong smell of sewerage as you walk across the footbridge from the beach to the reception. Lots of garbage in the footbridge area. Quite disgusting really. It appears they get their water from a sand-spear only meters away from this... More

Room was smelly as there was an open drain in the bathroom and from the sound of things the whole block's waste was running through. Plumbing very noisy. Booked a double room with an extra mattress. Extra mattress left outside for us to move. Felt the room was overpriced given the hygiene standards. Also only about 2/5 lights worked in... More

We rocked up on Long Beach looking for accommodation. Luckily found a little path that took us to the matahari reception. They had one room left which we took (c8). Room was clean, shower was powerful and the mozy net was hole free, all the things you need in a hut. We were only going to stay for 3 nights... More

We booked Matahari Chalet with Fun Dives package and ending up obtaining my Advanced Open Water qualification as price was reasonable and most important I got a patient and skillful instructor, Jorge is the best! So as every dive instructors in the dive centre!! Highly recommended for anyone who are keen to dive. Our AC double room was basic but... More

I did a dive course here and the company was very professional, the staff was friendly and the overall experience great. I stayed there as well and the accommodation varies depending on price. Basic room without Air con but private bath was fine for me although the noise from the bars next door will keep you up all night. I... More

I got a terrible rash here because of bedbugs. Also lots of mosquito bites because there were holes in the mosquito net. The chalet was terribly hot because it did not get any shade during the day. Internet did not work at all. Don t go.

I can't say enough about the staff at Matahari. We arrived at the beach on a public holiday, and to our horror everywhere on Kecil was full. The staff seemed to go out of their way to find us room, and still only charge us the rack rate of 80 ringgit for a FAN room, where other places were charging... More

We have visited Perhentian Kecil for diving only and stayed in Matahari at an AC room for 7D6N. I had fun dives and my girlfriend got her Open Water Certificate there. The bungalows were in good shape for Perhentian standards and relatively clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. The electricity was not available during the day but it was not... More

Room is decent and clean. Location is very good as it located in the middle of long beach and less than 2 minutes... More

We stayed 3 night - paid 90myr per night room only for a fan room - bungalow style - with western bathroom (cold shower). Very basic wooden bungalow with balcony and 2 chairs/table. Double bed with Mosquito net. Quiet location just 100m from the beach and restaurants. Wifi available at reception - but we could connect in our room (B2).... More
