Didn't stay at the Lodge - but dined at the restaurant. Service was extremely slow - one hour wait for hamburger at lunch and it wasn't busy. Staff not helpful at all. Wouldn't bother going there again

stayed here for 3 nights. we took a fan room with cold water. the bed was squeaky, but i slept well. shower was underpowered. room faced the garden and was extremely stuffy. breakfast was adequate but communicating with the staff is a painful experience. food is salty and i would really recommend to eat elsewhere (flora bay's restaurant seems best)... Upon our arrival we were given rear bungalow near a generator, or compressor. We naturaly complained, and manager finaly agreed to have the machine turned off during night. Room was basic and small, but clean, and a/c was working ok. This side of Besar island is not the best, either for snorkling or swimming because it gets very shallow at... More

There's another recent review entitled "Good, but..." I totally agree. Here's our experience, modified on a shameless cut & paste here. Both good and bad here - please read....... Diving (unknown): When we were here last week, Alu-alu was understaffed and overbooked. Dive master Guylan was friendly though understandably swamped. He recommended us to the dive shop at Arwana for... More

We booked two rooms for two couples, one for 3 nights and the other one for 2 nights, via Agoda.com. A week before my partner and I decided to stay a third night, booked it on Agoda and I even emailed Bayu Diving Lodge to make sure the booking was confirmed. They replied to say the third night was confirmed.... More

Both good and bad here - please read....... Diving (Good): Organised, professional, decent kit, decent knowledge of the local environment (which, incredibly for Asia they are keen to protect) lots of dive sites and small dive-group numbers. Accommodation (Good): Decent chalets/huts that are sensibly priced but have no hot water - fine though as normal water is warm. Cleaned only... More

What a horrible place! The garden and the room are nice, but the staff are the most unfriendly people I have ever met in Malaysia! They are very cranky and totally not helpful! If you ask them someting, they act annoid and you just get a yes or no answer (usually no).The breakfast is terrible and if you got it... More

Clean, affordable, with a decent bed n shower, that's what my wife n I ask for & that's what we got here at Bayu. We went for a fan room which was all we needed. Dunno about the other rooms but ours came with 2 so no complaints there. The sea view was absolutely stunning, not much luscious white sand... More

We travelled in a group of 7 people. As we booked late, I ended up with a fan-only chalet with no hot water :( but doesnt matter to me as the prices were really affordable and we didnt spend much time with the room. Pros: -The dive instructors here are helpful and experienced. I did a night dive in a... More

My girlfriend (Spain) and I (German) planned to stay for three days in Bayu's dive lodge in June - and ended up staying for more than a week, because we loved the place. The place is simple but beautiful. The little beach houses have everything that is needed and a bit, have flair, are clean, and - if you are... More
