We stayed here recently for one night before catching a flight out of sandakan airport. The room we stayed in was pleasant enough and was clean, but the surrounding area was unpleasant. The noise problem from the karaoke bar downstairs remains and much of the downstairs of the hotel space was like a building site. The downstairs of the foyer... More

We stayed at this hotel for one night. The towels and floor were dirty, the bed quite filthy and there was a strange smell in the room. It is located in a suburbian area ca 20 min from the airport by taxi. The area was not very nice and we couldnt find a decent restaurant that was open. The staff... More

Picture this you check in to the room at 11pm after a long day and there is a strong stench of smoke, management offers to spray the room. The room is upgraded to a larger room, but there is no shampoo/shower gel, slippers...its ok..you just want to sleep to get the airport early morning....as you settled in to bed, you... More

Dear Tommacau, Thank you very much for your stay in Best Western Sandakan Hotel & Residence. On behalf of the management i wish to apologize to have let you have such an unpleasant experience. This is a quality property. We had a beautifully appointed room, management was professional, knowlegable about the area, helpful, and courteous. The hotel is right off the main highway about 10 minutes or so from the downtown in a newer area of Sandakan. The area is mixed apartment houses and retail businesses. The rooms surround an inner, covered courtyard where... More

Had our late breakfast at LJ's grill, order for fresh apple juice, ribena, nasi goreng & fried hor fun...i have to wait for an hour for my breakfast...the food was cold..taste and presentation not really good for hotel food..more dissapointed when the apple juice was actually chilled & not freshly squeeze. But on the menu they put "fresh juices" overall,... More

This is the second time that I've been here within 2 months. Nothing much has changed. The bed, the room ambience is undeniably comfortable after a long day. But, it doesn't mean anything when you consider the ridiculous noise coming from the club downstairs. With the whole "hotel" arrangement resembling something like your school hostel, the noise really travels. It... More
