The staff is very friendly, no problem to check in a bit early or to check out a bit late. We stored are suitcases a couple of days during a trip. The lady boss will pay a lot of attention to sell her trips. A bit too much. We arranged everything on our own. It is not hard to do,... More

I stayed 2 days in Sea View Sandakan Budget & Backpackers Hotel. I felled at home. Nabistul, the manager and the rest of the staff let me feel at home and very kind and the hospitality was great. When arriving in Sandakan, I was slightly hesitant. However, as soon as you arrive at this hostel you feel right at home! Nabistul the owner is extremely sweet and helpful, I arrived in the evening and we were up late talking and drinking tea on the sofa! Any tour you want to do in Sandakan I would book through her,... We arrived in Sandakan a bit anxious after being told it was a dangerous place to go. We were picked up by a nice guy who was from the same village as me back home which was relieving and really surreal. As soon as we got to the hostel and met Nabistul we felt totally at ease, she was the... More

I was here about two months ago. The staff is extremely helpful and kind. They took the time to pair me up with an Irish couple so that I would save 50 MYR on a tour. The owner even cooked us a fish curry!

Good location in centre of things and close to harbourside restaurants. Room basic but clean and agree with others could do with a little TLC. Bed comfy, good AC, sporadic wifi, ensuite good, shared bathroom ok if you are happy amongst the piping and tanks :-) Brekky was a cuppa plus a single pancake. Friendly owner which created a good... Stayed in this hostel a month or two ago - after staying for one night booked another one immediately. The food was the highlight, with Nabastul's lemongrass, coconut and pumpkin curry being the best thing we ate on our trip. Good vibes all round!

We stayed here for two nights in April 2014 in a double ensuite room. The room was ok but probably could do with a refurb because it was quite dated. We woke up in the middle of the night to the aircon dripping on our faces we informed the staff and they sent someone to have a look at it... More

Nabistul who runs this budget hotel makes the whole experience. She can help you find whatever you are looking for. She knows her way around the area and she really wants you to like your trip to Sandakan. We followed her on the trip to water willage and she has her own little twist on it compered to others.
