My friends and I just spent 4 nights at the Lakana hotel in a family bungalow. The experience was amazing!!!! Rova, was such a delight to talk with and she made our stay memorable. The food was outstanding as well. During our stay we relaxed on the Indian Ocean, went snorkeling on the reef, and took a boat tour of... More

We stayed here for one night to experience the bungalow on the water. We were a bit unlucky with the weather, as we had rain, but the experience was great. The service provided by the staff was absolutely magnificent, from the reception to the cooks, to the manager, they all ensured that the guests were having the best time possible.... More

Chalets along the beach, also some set back and others on a wood pier (with on-shore bathrooms). Excellent menu options and daily set. Wifi in bar area with cozy chairs. All staff are extra attentive. They can fix tours including whale watching (recommended in season)-- all hotels seem to have same prices for better class/safety boats-- probably much cheaper in... Sadly, we only stayed one night at the Dar Rocmarra, on our way home, but it was such a lovely way to end a wonderful trip. We were greeted so warmly by The staff and the food were SO delicious there was almost an unseemly scramble for the last one. I've since tried replicating them at home from an internet... More

As part of our trip through Madagascar we stayed at the Lakana hotel and it was splendid. The staff was very friendly and service minded. While we stayed here, we had our first anniversary and I arranged a surprise for my wife, with the staff helping me to get everything planned. Locationwise you have a few restaurants, bike rentals and... More

Nestled along the beach and next to a roadway, the bungalows were nicely appointed, have views of the beach, some were over the water (with no open bottoms ala Bora Bora), and the staff were friendly, very helpful, and spoke good English, although French is better. The rooms were very clean. We loved it here and went for long walks... More

My tour company (Cactus Tours......amazing tour company) set me up here on gorgeous Ile. Ste. Marie, at the end of my month in Madagascar, and I stayed the first night in a garden bungalow, which was not bad, but the next 2 nights, I stayed in a bungalow on the sea...WOW....I mean, it wasn't the Ritz, but, sleeping to the... I have been to this hotel two years ago (2009) and have noticed that the standards have dropped this time round. The bungalow is of acceptable size however there is a lack of lighting which makes it very dim and difficult to find things. The shower in bungalow 18 lacked pressure and you have to keep pressing the shower button... More

Lakana is a lovely little collection of bungalows set in beautiful gardens. Sleeping arrangements are basic, and the decor in rooms a bit old, but very clean and fairly peaceful (though as with all the hotels on this side of the island, the road is only 50 metres away). The staff are wonderful and genuinely friendly, with a very helpful... More

I have given this hotel 3 stars due to the comfort level of the rooms. However if the rooms were better and modernised slightly I would happily give 5 stars based on experience and location. The hotel has really friendly staff especially the bar/kitchen staff they were great. It has a lovely atmosphere and is situated amongst trees and bushes... More
