Uzu hotel is closed for maintinace. We used just to arrive to Benghazi and go directly there without making any reservation (Uzu does not need, there is always rooms) but the hotel is closed. Before going try to call them, if they start to accept guests or not yet.

Stayed in the Uzu for 3 days in January 2012. The building is visibly old and in need of a good refurbishment and clean, but was the best of the few hotels I went to see before booking a room. Staff were okay. Due to instability in the country at the time, the lobby was swarming with men clad in... More

I stayed in the Uzu Hotel just last week, and it definitely needs some work! It was supposed to be closed for remodeling, but to my understanding, stayed open to accommodate people who needed a place to stay in Benghazi during and after the revolution. Upon entering the hotel, I went to use the restroom on the lobby level and... More

At the moment you don't have lot of choices in Benghazi, Uzu is one of few good hotels, acceptable level of cleanliness, I'm sure 10ths of years ago Uzu considered as 7 stars hotel, but now it is old but still fancy in some ways, the rooms dusty ask the cleaner to clean it good with tip of $1 you... I stayed in this hotel on a business trip and found it, as others have said, pretty good considering it is right after the war. The hotel closed for remodeling shortly after we left. The hotel was worn in most places and the worst thing to me was that it smelled like cigarette smoke everywhere. I only ate breakfast and... More

I arrived at the Uzu on 23 February, 2011, right after the war began in Libya. (I'm a journalist.) The hotel was free to journalists when I was there, breakfast and dinner included, except the first two nights, where there was nothing because the employees had fled and the hotel was being run by volunteers. Lights flickered intermittently and there... More

Since I arrived at the Uzu in the middle of a war (not my choice, but my taxi driver's), everything about it may be a little bit out of the ordinary and prices hiked up. For what it’s worth, I paid USD110 a night for a double-room but the Uzu isn’t worth anything approaching USD70-a-night, let alone 110. It looks,... More

The hotel is what we call 'decent' for Benghazi standards (not for the rest of Libya(, like a one star hotel in Europe... Rooms were outdated but almost clean. Breakfast very basic. Avoid dinner. The people ok... The problem is the smell! Next to Uzu, is a 'lake'. Think a waste deposit and you got it. The smell is unbelieveable... More

Stayed in the Uzu Hotel for 1 week on business. Standard of hotel is fine by Libya Standards, (all) the staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with throughout. Rooms are basic but clean and safe (TV with multi-channel, balcony etc.). Food isn't great but the helpful staff make up for it. Don't use the laundry if you can... More
