Superb location. A must for a visitor to Kenya. Warm reception, comfortable though small rooms. Superb views from bunker, and galleries. Good food and attentive staff. Good talk on wildlife by the fire in the evening - very informative. A photographers dream come true as animals come real close to the water hole and salt lick. Room doors dont have... More

A magical place. In the reservation. You can see the elephants from the balcony. The staff is very friendly and professional. Dinner was superb. The rooms are very clean and well equipped. The atmosphere is specious and you fill like in a fairy tale. We really liked the place, it is a very unique one, and I highly recommend it.

Stayed one night and was sadly disappointed. We were really looking forward to staying here. We felt as though everything was rushed. The buffet was large and the food was good. The waiter lingered waiting to be tipped which we were going to do but felt pressured. The rooms are small with no locks. Our bathroom was leaking and the... More

Truly a beautiful place and a great way to start your stay in Kenya. Although the rooms are small the 360 degree view from this hotel makes it all worthwhile. Every floor has a viewing balcony if the waterhole and the rooms are equipped with a buzzer hitch is used to awaken during the night if any of the big... More

I visited The Ark 25 years ago with my Mother, and always wanted to return with my sons. In July I took my three teenage sons to The Ark. We had a wonderful time. The only reason I gave a "Very Good" rating rather than "Excellent" was the other guest. It is a pity that large tour groups from certain... More

This hotel is located within the Aberdare National Park, and there is no leaving it on your own once you enter because you are truly in the wild. We watched dozens of elephants and cape buffalo plus the occasional hyena and antelope feeding on the mineral-laced ground adjacent to the hotel and nearby waterhole. The rooms are tiny but adequate... More

We stayed at The Ark for one night as part of our safari in August 2014.We travelled as a couple with our 14 year old grandson. The viewing whether it be from one of the outside terraces or from the inside lounge viewing area is just amazing. The animals are so close it is like an episode from Big Brother.The... More

What an absolute treat this was! Whilst a fun place to stay...cosy and personal, the choice of viewing places was amazing...there was continual drama occurring around the waterhole and salt lick, many species of animals visited, herds of elephants with young ones, buffalo , various antelope, even a suni..and we were able to get very close to them, especially from the"keep"... Great place and recommended if you are looking for a unique experience of Safari. Service is good and room are okay (little small though). The Ark hotel viewing decks for the animals are great and gives unique experience as well as at the night there is wake up call to view specific animals - this was some thing i never... More

The Ark is a must stay place in Kenya. It is, of course, shaped like an Ark with four different levels with rooms cabin-style. The rooms are therefore small, but nicely done. Unfortunately, there are no family rooms (there may be a triple I think) so you have to pay 75% for an extra room for 2 kids. The best... More
