We stayed here for one night. Prior to transferring to The Ark we had lunch at the country club, this an absolutely beautiful setting, with marvellous service and food. After lunch we were taken by coach to the The Ark, though the service and food was excellent I felt a little bit disappointed as there was not that much animal... More

Maybe it was the weather, rather cool and cloudy but we were very disappointed. Not much animals, no spectacular views, simple rooms and services, average quality food. Night bells to inform of any animals arriving? Not heard once!

I am writing in response to the comments entitled “Overrated”, a review from a trip to the Ark earlier this month. The Ark was constructed to resemble the Biblical Noah’s Ark; its location in the Aberdare National Park next to a water hole and salt lick tends to ensure that we have regular visits from animals. In keeping with the... More

The place is different as it boasts a watering hole that has a salt base that attracts animals close to the viewing decks. The animals are close and they boast a bunker to get closer. That part of the facility is interesting, and birds are rampant here. Their claim to fame is that they will call you in the middle... More

It was a magical experience. Bumpy journey but worth it. Fantastic view from room. Everything and more that I thought it would be. Glad I had my fleece and hot water bottle was a lovely surprise. Good food. Everybody must go and experience it.

The first night of our JT Safaris of Mombasa private safari having transferred after lunch at the Aberdare Country Club. What an amazing building and position. Yes in terms of wildlife you are completely dependent on the animals coming to you at the waterhole/salt lick and if they don't and I don't know how often that happens, I guess it... More

Our experience at the Ark was slightly underwhelming. We had heard a lot of positive reviews, both on here and from our safari company but it didn't quite meet our expectations. Aside from the fact that we happened to be there on an extremely rainy day (in February!) and thus there were no buzzers during the night,(although this is obviously... More

We spent one incredible night at the Ark. One night was not nearly enough. The lodge is clean, comfortable, and beautiful. The staff very knowledgable and friendly. The lounges were comfortable and one could sit and enjoy viewing the animals coming to the watering hole while sipping tea! It was great to sit quietly and enjoy the natural interaction among... Yes, it is an amazing place. Right above a waterhole with several decks to watch the animals coming to eat and drink. You are guaranteed to see buffaloes, elephants, wild african hogs and warthogs, antelopes and gazelles, hyenas and dozens of exotic birds. The rooms are very small, only a little bit bigger than a cabin on a ferry boat... More

Back to the Ark with friends who had not been there - a wonderful game drive through the park's amazing scenery to this beautiful place with elephant and buffalo right in front of the game viewing platforms plus, this time, a number of Giant Forest Hog. Excellent staff, food and service.

We stayed for one night and had an incredible experience. We arrived to find elephants mixing with buffalo at the watering hole. A viewing platform on each floor gave the opportunity to see the animals really close up and "the hide" on ground level allowed you to feel as if you were standing with the animals; we could hear them...
