The lodge is famous because of the Queen and its location "tree top". But actually it's not the trees... We expected to see many animals coming for the water drinking but only one elephant, some buffalos, a few warthogs althought it's righ besides the Aberdare National Park. The weather was not good with heavy fog and very cold because of... More

The lodge is situated about 15 km from Nyeri town and about 200 km from Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. Animals come to lick mineral and play with water just next to the hotel and if your room is facing water pool you can watch the animals from your room. otherwise you can watch the animals from the bar.... I spent two nights, the stay exceeded my expectations, staff where very helpful, nice cosy room, game viewing was terrific, have been on a number of safari's, this was such a contrast, sitting in the lounge or your room relaxing and reading whilst the animals went about their business right outside of your window, one of the most enjoyable couple... We really fell in love with treetops! From the moment we arrived we were thrilled. We loved the gentleman's club style of the lounge with its leather sofas. Our room was simple but comfortable and had excellent views over the water hole. Our traveling companion had previously visited Treetops four years ago and said the rooms and dining room were... We stayed here 9 years ago and it was then quite a magical place. We also had a great talk on elephants and were made to feel welcome. Then we had to share a bathroom and the rooms were basic. But that was ok as we didn't want luxury, all we wanted was a place to stay and see animals,... More

It was very quiet on the night I visited - only three guests. The rooms were cold but they gave me a couple of hot water bottles which made everything toasty. I saw lots of elephants (a real thrill), but, alas, no rhinos - so no use of the in-room buzzer the night I went. I was strongly encouraged to... More

It was while staying her that the once Princess Elizabeth became Queen Elizabeth II. The hotel is quite normal, but it is worth a visit because of the possibility of seeing the animal kingdom in all its splendour, right under your bedroom window. Rinos, elephants, ienas and leopards often visit the place.

I feel very mixed about Treetops. On one hand, it's not nearly as spartan as I was prepared for - they have done a great job with the renovations. The location and lodge are so unique that I think it's definitely worth a visit, if only for 1 night. Watching the animals from above is so unique and fun, and... More

Every year towards the end of May, we head out to Treetops Aberdares - and before the "renovations", it truly was an amazing place. The magic is gone; and I now strongly suggest that Treetops reviews its tagline. The sanctity of the park has been undermined by the fact that we can ALL drive ourselves to the lodge. I will not... More

We came here for one night as part of a much larger Safari adventure holiday, we had a tiny room but the elephants right outside made up for the size! It really is like camping on stilts! The Amurula kept us up and going all night, such fun!
