We stayed at Horas with our family of 4 kids aged between 2 and 9. I cant recommend it highly enough. The owners Berend and Mian were incredibly helpful and hospitable, everything we needed to enjoy our stay was right here. Our children had the best time playing with the rabbits, dogs and kitten and Berend even took them fishing.... More

My wife and I stayed at the Horas family home recently and enjoyed the family home atmosphere, with meals on the balcony overlooking the gardens and the lake. It was an ideal break from Singapore. The owner recommended restaurants in the area and our favorite was close by with a great menu including western and asian food. For us, the... More

I wish I could give ten stars for the service instead of 5. My husband and I were lucky to get the Horas Family Home over the Chinese New Year weekend due to a cancellation. The travel arrangements, set up by Berend Bakker were flawless. We were met at the airport in Medan by a very competent English speaking driver... More

I have to say as a loyal Trip Advisor follower and reviewer, I am slightly suspicious about the reviewers for this hotel. So many had only written one review (just for Horas). Just something to keep in mind when reading reviews. We arrived at Horas after a long day of travel (4 1/2 hours from Medan) and then waited awhile... More

My friend and I had a wonderful two nights at Horas Family Home in Danu/Lake Toba. Berand, (sp) a lovely Dutch man enjoying his retirement in Sumatra, was a wonderful host and sat down to give us an intro to Tuk Tuk (the pimple-like part of Samosir) and a tour of his home and garden. Berand and his Indonesian family... More

The owner Mr. Bekker and his wife Mian, and the staffs are very helpful and friendly. We stay only for a night, because they have a group has booked earlier. Even though we had check-out, Mr Bekker helped us to arranged the transfer to... More

Horas Family Home stay provides an interesting comfortable environment – an ideal relaxing getaway for anyone who would like to experience something different from the standard commercialized hotel accommodation. The owner, Mr Bakker was already waiting at the entrance to welcome us and gave us a tour of his lovely Home. The entrance walkway is lined with floral on both... More

Our original plan was to have one night stay in Tuk Tuk Samosir and another night in Berastagi. But due to the marvelous and wonderful peace place we decided to stay 2 nights in Horas. Horas Family Resort is ideal for a family reunion or gathering. It has family suites that can accommodate up to 8 people. Very nice furniture... More

Exclusive and excellent, that's the tagline of Horas and it has definitely lived up to its reputation! The host, Berend, is great and offered good advice on our trip, and the rest of the staff were friendly and made us felt welcome. We stayed in Horas Indah, an apartment unit just behind Horas Family Home so our view of Lake... More
