This place has potential but what you end up getting is very inconsistent. Sometimes clean rooms...sometimes not. You might get your room cleaned and gets towels or not. The manager of the place needs to follow up with the cleaning staff ti insure it is done. The staff are all friendly and helpful though. Construction in the lobby gping on... More

We were offered a room here on the ferry over and decided to take a look, offers of ping pong table, wifi, hot water etc of which we never received. The view of the lake was beautiful and food in nearby restaurants good. Food at the hotel was basic and bland. Not worth the money. The first day we were... More

Dear Loops Hi ,sorry that you missed our warm and well known hospitality. Regarding your stolen shoes, our room staff found it when cleaning the room under your bed. We would be glad if we can send your shoes to your next Hotel in Indonesia. Please let us know, where you stay. Have a nice trip. Regards from Samosir Cottages,... More

We really loved this place, the rooms were clean and comfortable, we had a great view over the water and it was lovely to sit on the balcony watching the world go by. The restaurant serves lovely food and when the power went out they still cooked by torch and candle light producing the same excellent quality regardless of the... More

This is my 2nd visit to this hotel, we spent 4 days in this time around. Nice view, good value for money. Bike rental available. For MUSLIM tourist, there is a Muslim food located few blocks away from this hotel. The hotel itself provide food at reasonable price. There is also batak dance performed every Wednesday night. Free wifi and... More

The views to the lake is what it makes me give them 3 stars. The rooms are very basic with a hot water dribble as shower. Staff here are very intense, weird and not very friendly. Do not eat here as food is made by amateurs and just round the corner you have lovely restaurants. Wen we got there unfortunately... More

We stayed for five nights, and ate in the restaurant once. We found the food very salty so we tried some local restaurants on the door step. The most amazing, called 'Chutney's', was almost opposite, where the lane to the hotel meets the main road. The gardens are well kept at Samosir Cottages and you can swim in the lake... More

My boyfriend and I had a very nice stay at Samosir cottages. We had a room for 4 nights with view to the Lake and that was very nice. The room was basic, but big and clean. If you expect a more luxury, then it is better to take another resort, but if you are okay with a basic clean... More

Stay away from this place! I have travelled in Central America, Northern Africa and Asia for several months and I never came across unfriendlier staff, especially the manager Mr Bloom. They are dishonest and will lie directly into your face and rip you off. For example they organized a bus ticket for us to Bukittingi, they charged us 100'000 IDR... More

The best and the only best attribute of samosir cottages is its aweasome lake view and the location. Perfect place to laze around for a couple of days with awesome sunrise views. Apart from that the Inn is just about average in every other aspect. Rooms are just about ok. Nothing fanciful. No toiletries kit in the bathrooms. There was... More
