Stayed three nights. Our room had hot water and was modern an clean. Though obviously they had forgotten to empty the trash cans (especially the one in the bathroom with the toilet paper...) and put no towels in the room. We had a sea side room with a look at the ongoing dock works (instructive) and a first row seat... More

My first room didn't have working hot water, so i went to reception. 3 of the staff came to my room and continued to shout through the walls back and forth trying to fix it. I was told I could shower now, or tell reception when I wanted to, because if the water was turned off, it was cold again.... More

We were "transferred" to Samosir Cottages after arriving at Mas Cottages (our original booking; same owner) and being told our booking had been moved to another site (thank goodness we had a driver!). Once we arrived, the service was decent - we were asked to pay for our room in cash up front, which was odd, but all in all... More

We stayed in Samosir Cottages for 4 nigths. When we arrived it was dark, we got a room lower floor (room 66). There was a room across ours with Indonesian people who were absolutely not quiet in the evening and night (we personally think they live and work there). The next morning we woke up because of the noise that... More

In general its a quite good hotel, but at this time its a construction side. They start to work from 7.30 am, and its not possible to sleep longer because of all the noises. The first two nights we had a standart room with no mosquito fence above the window, so we had a lot of mosquitos in our room,... More

Since lake Toba was our goal we have been looking for a midrange hotel we picked from the lonely planet guide. Unfortunately the prices doubled due to idul fitri. The end of ramadan period. The staff was friendly. The facilities. Ok. One negative point was the noisiness. The hotel is build in a square which resonates all noices.

According to the staffs night are cold. But i don't know think so. Management need to fix at least 1 fan in each room. You can consult Mr.... More

We stayed at Samosir Cottages for three nights and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was very comfortable and had a balcony that overlooked the lake. The staff we're genuinely friendly and more then accommodating. The restaurant area was great with tasty food, fast wifi and live Batak music played every couple of nights. The pool was a pleasure to... More

I stayed here during the low season and I have yet to find a better better value room anywhere in the world. I had a lakeside room with the perfect panoramic view and a beautifully big balcony to enjoy it from. The nightly rate was insanely good--> and this is after travelling around Indonesia and SE Asia for over a... More
