My family and I went to Lake Toba in Feb 2015. We had a very disappointing and unpleasant experience having liased with Mr. Bloom and stayed in Samosir Cottage’s Villa. This is because we were being offered a Samosir Private Villa (Claimed as Villa Sibolopian, 1km from Samosir Villa Resort) which it was horrible and terrible to be stayed in.... More

When we arrived at Samosir cottages first everything seemed fine and clean. The staff gave us a nice room with a nice view and then....10 minutes later I heard a weird noise while laying on our bed. I looked around and - there were a big rat in our room. First I thought maybe it entered from outside, so I... More

When taking ferry to a tuktuk I was approached by a man named Pulju, who was working for Samosir Cottage. I was arriving in Chinese New Year so prices were double the normal cost. Yet Pulju made good deal and I got room for half price right next to the lake. Perfect location. Pulju arranged lot of things for me... More

Like everywhere else, massively underbooked in low season (march), Although weekenders come over, and then there's more noise from jet skis and banana boats, from other resorts if your room is lakeside. This place has good swimming acces to the lake, but the water gets deep immediately, so not for children (there's a separate small outside pool in the hotel proper)... More

We got the room facing the lake and the view was breathtaking. The room was quite spacious and had clean toilet as well. However, no hot shower or WIFI in the room. Food served at the lobby is quite tasty and fairly priced for a tourist spot. Instead of 1 nite, we extended for another so that we could explore... More

If I could give zero stars I would! They get one star for the lake, which is a gift of a nature that the whole island gets. PROS -lake view CONS -teenagers and loud (crazy loud) families until 3 am, you will get no sleep -demolition with loud music that starts at sunrise - dumping a whole building into the... More

We were approached on the ferry over to samosir by one of the staff at Samosir cottages, he showed us pictures of the hotel and was very pushy about booking, so much so we got off the boat and waited somewhere else. He offered a double with hot water, balcony, wifi, breakfast for 100,000. Originally he asked for no money... More

The boat from Agibata arbor will get you directly to your hotel, so wherever you are, you will be well located. My boyfriend and I stayed two nights at the cottages. The room was ok. It was clean but the furniture was a little old and the bed was squishing every time we sat on it. The bathroom was beautiful.... More

We intended to stay at Samosir cottages for 2 nights but ended up staying for longer. Was a lovely place - great location, nice rooms - cheaper rooms are the ones with the best views but more modern rooms are available without the view. Staff were very reliable and friendly. Mr Bloom on the front desk went out of his... More
