We made a trip around Thailand with our children (6 and 7 year old) and Sukhothai was in the middle of our trip as we started with Chiang Rai. The contrast was huge with the cities up north both in terms of hotels offering and friendness of people. There are not so many hotels in old Sukhothai and the first... More

Near old city. Rooms were big, same for bathroom. This was just before high season, so hotel was not totaly prepared. Room was humid. Not much choice for dinner, even though dinner was very good. Very nice pool. Far way to station. No shop nearby. Bicycles available at hotel for free. Generally very nice.

This property is close to the historical park.......and there the pluses end. As others have remarked, it is pretty shabby - and with smelly bathrooms. The so called premium rooms at the front are smaller and shabbier than the cheaper rooms at the back. This is not "designer distressed"; this is old age and poor maintenance distressed. Uncomfortable bed, grotty... More

The rooms look great, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom looks great, BUT and its a big BUT, the bathroom stank, exceedingly foul smell of the gaseous type. The type of smell that is experienced where the sanitaryware is not properly installed. Perhaps they forgot to fit a U bend that would normally ensure the gases from a sceptic tank are... More

We were lucky that we got a good price through Sawadee, as I don't think this hotel is worth the price they usually ask. Having said that, the Deluxe room was big, nicely decorated with old furniture, large TV, and a lovely little patio with a view of a pond. I was worried that given the water feature outside our... My Wife and I were staying at a resort a couple blocks away. We stopped in for some dinner. The red curry was very tasty as was the iced mocha and lemon iced tea. The glass noodle salad was good and the sauce for the shrimp tempera tasted like a homemade plum sauce. Overall the meal was good but price... More

The hotel is in a good location , the staff at reception were friendly and helpful. The rooms , well how can I say this .. the shower /toilet were very dirty and the paint was coming off the wood around the area. The shower was an outdoor one and if you stay there when it is the cold season... More

The Tharaburi is a great hotel in an ideal location in Sukhothai. My wife and I stayed there while driving between Bangkok on Chaing Mai during our Honeymoon. We timed our stay with the Loy Krathong festival. The hotel is located ideally close to the Sukhothai Historical Park, and perfect for bicycling to and from the park. The hotel rented... More

If you want to visit Sukhothai History Park the Tharaburi Resort is a good base. The rooms, indeed the whole layout, are quirky but in a pleasant way and ours certainly lived up to the promise of the photos. Reception staff had adequate English and were very helpful, the pool was clean, and if you wanted a Thai massage as... More
