The sanctuary lives up to its name! A sanctuary. A home away from home! People were so inclusive and friendly! It was like one big family. I went on my own and it was perfect. You got the peace from the beautifu, rustic and raw surroundings but always had someone to talk to if you wish. They diverse therapies in... More

After spending a month here I don't know what the fuss is about. Someone in management must have an in with the British press. These patched together bungalows serve more as a sanctuary for animals than people. I shared my bathroom with a gecko--kind of charming--a rat--not charming--and often woke up to find my bed and person covered with a... More

Hi and thank you for your review . We are pleased that you stayed a month with us and we really appreciate your sharing some of your issues with us. As you point out - some of our rooms are located in a jungle environment - this was a pre-requisite when the owners designed the place, the owners were and... More

I am a rather backpacking/camping traveller who prefers road trips more than staying in a resort. This time I decided to change the travelling pattern and stay 16 days at The Sanctuary. I was always a bit sceptical towards Yoga/ Meditation/Natural Healers but I decided to try all this and open up for new ideas. I did 16 day weight... More

It doesn't really matter why you pick the Sanctuary: to lose weight, to get over a broken relationship, to find yourself or just have a break from the busy world. I can recommend the sanctuary to cure all ills and like anything transformative - change you in ways you didn't even now you could or wanted. This place is pleasurable... More

Stayed two nights very recently at the Sanctuary. Found it to be completely overpriced and not worth it. Staff at the reception were most unwelcoming. Nobody to show me around the place and explain the features of the resort. Just escorted to the room in silence and left there with my bags. Room smelt stale and had insects all over... More

Sorry that we messed up so badly for you and sorry that we didn’t make your stay an enjoyable one. We really do want every customer happy and contented and we really do strive to make this happen. In this case we have no excuse to offer because it is low season and the staff are not stressed or overworked... More

Me and my wife stayed for 4 nights in the best room at the top off the hill and had a very nice view...rooms are very basic and not cheap....hugh amounts off mosqitos and bugs/spides/bats in the room and all over the place nonstop since the place is in the "jungel" and open air style.. Local employed staff is mix... More

Dear Thomas - many thanks for your review and sincere apologies that Sanctuary was not what you expected . I can see from your TA profile that you are luxury traveller and can appreciate that the jungle environment here can be a challenge for some . Sanctuary is renowned for its Vegetarian and Raw food offerings- this is why many... More

I travelled here with friends and stayed for five nights. We arrived by longtail boat from Haad Tien (about 300B per person) and simply hoped to get a room. We were all booked in to private bungalows, and mine overlooked treetops and jungle. The accommodation is spartan and basic, but completely adequate, and the real point of The Sanctuary is... More

Dear Christian. Many thanks for coming to visit Sanctuary and great that you enjoyed the social mix of guests who come to enjoy what we have to offer . In your case - simply relaxing. The hammock on the Pontoon is also one of my favorite places to 'hang'.. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future .... More

Wow. Where to begin? My husband and I are traveling around the world and we ditched out plans to head to Lao because we were hot and tired after traveling around Cambodia and Vietnam. Somehow we found out about The Sanctuary and were motivated enough to take a long series of buses, train, boats, etc. to Ko Phanghan. We ended... More

Me and my boyfriend enjoyed our 10-day stay at The Sanctuary. The resort is hidden on a beautiful beach, surrounded by jungle and mountains. The bungalows are clean and comfy and the restaurant area has a nice buzz day and night. The crowd is adorable mix of yogies, hippies and flashpackers, no kids allowed. The food selection at the restaurant... More

It’s hard to explain though, why this place is so special and how its magic makes it hard not to change your flight week on week and delay departure from this more secluded spot of Thai paradise and sheer loveliness. It’s hard to pin point what creates such magic and honestly I am reluctant to write the review it deserves... More
