I am a rather backpacking/camping traveller who prefers road trips more than staying in a resort. This time I decided to change the travelling pattern and stay 16 days at The Sanctuary. I was always a bit sceptical towards Yoga/ Meditation/Natural Healers but I decided to try all this and open up for new ideas. I did 16 day weight... More

It doesn't really matter why you pick the Sanctuary: to lose weight, to get over a broken relationship, to find yourself or just have a break from the busy world. I can recommend the sanctuary to cure all ills and like anything transformative - change you in ways you didn't even now you could or wanted. This place is pleasurable... More

Stayed two nights very recently at the Sanctuary. Found it to be completely overpriced and not worth it. Staff at the reception were most unwelcoming. Nobody to show me around the place and explain the features of the resort. Just escorted to the room in silence and left there with my bags. Room smelt stale and had insects all over... More

Me and my wife stayed for 4 nights in the best room at the top off the hill and had a very nice view...rooms are very basic and not cheap....hugh amounts off mosqitos and bugs/spides/bats in the room and all over the place nonstop since the place is in the "jungel" and open air style.. Local employed staff is mix... More

Dear Thomas - many thanks for your review and sincere apologies that Sanctuary was not what you expected . I can see from your TA profile that you are luxury traveller and can appreciate that the jungle environment here can be a challenge for some . Sanctuary is renowned for its Vegetarian and Raw food offerings- this is why many... More

I travelled here with friends and stayed for five nights. We arrived by longtail boat from Haad Tien (about 300B per person) and simply hoped to get a room. We were all booked in to private bungalows, and mine overlooked treetops and jungle. The accommodation is spartan and basic, but completely adequate, and the real point of The Sanctuary is... More

Dear Christian. Many thanks for coming to visit Sanctuary and great that you enjoyed the social mix of guests who come to enjoy what we have to offer . In your case - simply relaxing. The hammock on the Pontoon is also one of my favorite places to 'hang'.. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future .... More

Wow. Where to begin? My husband and I are traveling around the world and we ditched out plans to head to Lao because we were hot and tired after traveling around Cambodia and Vietnam. Somehow we found out about The Sanctuary and were motivated enough to take a long series of buses, train, boats, etc. to Ko Phanghan. We ended... More

Me and my boyfriend enjoyed our 10-day stay at The Sanctuary. The resort is hidden on a beautiful beach, surrounded by jungle and mountains. The bungalows are clean and comfy and the restaurant area has a nice buzz day and night. The crowd is adorable mix of yogies, hippies and flashpackers, no kids allowed. The food selection at the restaurant... More

It’s hard to explain though, why this place is so special and how its magic makes it hard not to change your flight week on week and delay departure from this more secluded spot of Thai paradise and sheer loveliness. It’s hard to pin point what creates such magic and honestly I am reluctant to write the review it deserves... More

The facilities for this property were really unique-loved the beach, bay and restaurant. The rooms however were high priced for the area, really nothing more than camping in a tree. If you like living with critters this is the place for you. I felt the price of the rooms was high for what they were. It was obviously really difficult... More

A hotel/resort or any other accommodation provider's service must be directly proportional to the price they charge. This is unfortunately not the case with the Sanctuary. To begin with, there is no orientation to the place at check-in. They simply made me fill out a piece of paper while I was standing at the counter and sent someone who couldn't... More
