this was our best holiday ever as Thailand lovers! if you're looking for a genuine holiday experience in the middle of an authentic fisher village, this is the place. when you're open to meet locals, you might find here some new friends. from the first moment, it felt like our second home. the construction of the house (and yes, i... This place more than exceeded my expectations. It's not for everybody because it is a little rustic. But what it has is charm. I love being right on the water. I spent most of my time in the hammock on the deck. I found Duane to be very helpful every step of the way. The house was clean and better... More

Now, I know there are some people who will think that any poor review of the mango house is simply because it's not a "resort" or "modern". That could not be farther from the truth. We WANTED an authentic experience and house. What we DIDNT want was to be insulted and hassled. Yes, it was disorganized upon arrival/check in, but... More

I must say, I am WELL aware that I will not get a positive or appropriate response from the owner of this water house based on other comments left by guests - and I am doing it any way! We gave him ample opportunity to discuss any issues with us face to face in order to avoid such a response.... More

I am not sure where to even begin with our experience of this terrible place! So I am going to just start from the beginning. Me and six of my girl friends reserved the Mango House. Upon arrival we stood and waited outside for almost an hour until someone arrived to unlock the Villas. There was no clear direction on... More

Stayed here for 4 nights. Nice views but you don't get any sun on the balcony after 9am. No maid service at all - toilet paper bucket got pretty full to overflowing, no change of towels, bed sheets, etc. it got pretty smelly. Bed was a bag a springs, very cheap and nasty. It gets quite noisy at night with... More

I expect a little bit of wildlife on a trip to the tropics, but we had several bats in the main living area of our house. This place is absolutely unsuitable for children under 10. There are large spaces between many of the wood slats used to make the floor. One board was designed to be lifted out of place... More

DrLanta, Owner at Mango Guesthouse + Villas, responded to this review

This guest obviously didn't read our very extensive website which clearly explains that Mango House units are all 20 minutes from the beach (and tourist side) of the island and directly over the sea. Consequently, she expected us to compensate her for not reading the resort details and a full refund when she changed her mind about staying at Mango... More

Two of my most memorable vacations were spent at Mango Guesthouse The owner made the experience one of ease and comfort. The Villas are charming with all the special touches that make one feel welcome. A great place to unwind and have delicious food and drinks, and the views from the private patios are amazing, have recommended to many family... More

This is a beautiful and unique spot. The houses are simple stilt houses on the sea, with a beautiful verandah on which to relax, read, have drinks & watch the horizon from your hammock. There is a small cooking area and fridge in the room. The owner is incredibly helpful and even went out of his way to return an... More

A visit to Koh Lanta should include a visit to Mango. Great bunch of people, both staff and customers made for a great evening. A longing for western food was sorted with a chicken burger and pizza. I love Thai food but sometimes you need a change and this is the place to come

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Mango Houses – a collection of authentic, Chinese-style wooden pole houses that have been converted into stylish, over-the-sea villas and suites. Each of these vacation home rentals is located directly on the ocean in an old Chinese fishing village named Lanta Old Town on Ko Lanta Island in Krabi, Thailand.Lanta Old Town is located on the nature-rich, southeast coast of Koh Lanta, only 15 minutes away from the beaches and tourist areas on the west coast — yet far enough to allow the village to retain its traditional culture and charm. Mango House is also famous for its quality, western-style food, coffees and wines. ... more   less
