At Aruna's & Chai's place everything is just simply beautiful. On top of the hill next to the jungle you have a spacious room with a comfy bed, fan shower & a terrace with stunning view over the Andaman sea. Here you live in harmony with the nature & like your hosts try to leave the smallest footprint on this... More

We spent ten days at Baan Rao in December with our two young children and it was perfect for us. Aruna and Tchai also have two young boys, and our kids immediately felt at home there. We really liked sitting on the terrace with our hosts and other guests in the evenings - Aruna really encourages a sense of community,... More

Before you book your stay in Baan Rao, it's good to know that: *It is a HOMESTAY, not a guesthouse. This means that you make your breakfast yourself, clean after yourself, wash your towels if they get dirty etc. *The place is located in the hill, which means a lot of climbing, which is not so great in hot and... We want to thank our Finnish guests for having written this review as this gives us the opportunity to explain what Baan Rao B&B is really about. Yes, they are right, this IS a Home Stay and not a regular hotel and we try as much as possible to remind guests about this when they book with us. What we... More

Baan Rao was a fantastic stay. Aruna & Chai go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ensure you know everything you need to know about the island. They will give you a house tour to make sure you know where everything is and so that you can bring your own food back etc and cook it... More

We were tired of the backpacker scene in Thailand and wanted to find something a little different, so we opted not to stay on the beach in Koh Lanta but to stay up the hill at Baan Rao Bed & Breakfast, and we are so glad we did. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel completely at... More

Aruna, Chai and their two lovely little boys make everyone feel welcome and part of the family. The facilities are very nice and peaceful with quiet when you want it but there is also plenty of opportunity to meet other interesting people. The beach is a short walk away and Aruna and Chai are super helpful making arrangements for whichever... More

5 mins from Phrae Ae beach, Aruna and Chai welcome you in their house as if you were part of the family. I had a wonderful stay there and shared lovely moments with the hosts and the other guests. The house and the guests rooms are very nice, the atmosphere is peaceful and quiet, you can relax in a hamoc... More

I have never spent a holiday feeling so comfortable in the chosen accommodation. Baan Rao is literally a home away from home. We stayed at Baan Rao over the Christmas holiday and were lucky enough to spend time with not only Aruna, Chai and their two kids Shaan and Jeevan, but also Aruna's sister and mother who were visiting. I... More

When looking for lodging in Koh Lanta for our longstay we did not want to stay in the middle of everything and then we found this fantastic place! On the hillside, above Lanta animal Welfare. Staying at Baan Rao B&B is like being at home. You feel really comfy and relaxed mostly thanks to Aruna and Chai. The place it... More

We chose to stay in Baan Rao after reading the wonderful reviews here & to be closer to nature. And I'm very glad we did, it was the highlight of our short trip to Koh Lanta. Aruna was awesome right from the first email & with Chai, they make the best couple to run a B&B in Koh Lanta. We... More

Yes the toilets at Baan Rao do need scrubs as the water is brown from our own well and the brown deposit makes the toilets look dirty which they are not. We scrub the toilets after every check out and apologies if the toilet looked dirty this time. That was not our intention. Welcome to Baan Rao ! More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
For all of you who believe in a Home Stay Experience and an ecological alternative, this is the place to be ! "Baan Rao" is a family run Bed & Breakfast that will offer you rooms which are cooled by the breeze of the jungle, an extraordinary sea view, the option of living in a Thai style wooden house or a more modern villa, all with a touch of family feeling thanks to the multicultural hospitality of Aruna Singh and Chai Chuaprom and baby boys Shaan (born 2010) and Jeevan (born 2012). We speak English, Thai, Swedish, French and Spanish. We ask guests to stay a minimum of 5 nights as we do not want too much of a turn-over. ... more   less
