We went to tamarind but unfortunately it was fully booked. They have another guest house less than 10min far away by walk and as far to go to wat mahathat and wat phra ram. It is a new one, the just open it 2 months ago. The owner is REALLY friendly and drove us to that place just to have... More

So maybe it's just me as everyone is raving about this place but we found it just ok. The staff are very friendly. The place is spotless. But the rooms are very basic the bathroom was full of mosquitoes we had to spray in there every time we went in.They ask you to be in by midnight if you don't... More

A short tuk tuk rid (60 baht) ride from the train station and right across the street from the Historical Park. We walked across the street at 8am and had the park to ourselves. Wonderful, gracious and helpful owners on site. The Tamarind is like entering the land of Oz! Re-cycled teak flooring and unique building techniques make this a... More

My partner and I decided to escape Bangkok for an impromptu weekend and booked one night here just as somewhere cheap/easy to stay while exploring Ayutthaya and it ended up being a highlight of the experience. No one was around when we checked in at about 1pm but they had left the key and some maps and info on the... More

Stayed here for one night en route to Chang Mai after a brief spell in Kanchanaburi. It is such a lovely place in a perfect location to explore the ruins just across the road. The best thing to do is to hire bikes from the accommodation and have an explore round the city. The room was lovely and we couldn't... More

So many people go to Ayutthaya as just a day trip, but we really enjoyed the 2 nights we spent there. It was great to see the temples and surrounding area at a more leisurely pace. And we couldn't have asked for a better guesthouse. Tamarind was great - from the moment we arrived we felt at home. We got... More

Great location in the middle of the old city - good for resting in between temple and site explorations. Strong wifi, very friendly and helpful owner and staff, more than ample information provided on their walls without even having to ask! Snacks and having the great Coffee Old City restaurant just outside are bonuses. And did I say the prices... More

We stayed here one night on our way from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. It was a gem of a place, nestled perfectly between the ancient temple ruins. The staff was super friendly and our room was large and clean. No complaints! The whole guesthouse is made of teak wood, which makes you feel like your in a real traditional Thai... More

Tamarind is a wonderfully quiet place to stay located across from the temple complex, the owners were very friendly and accommodating, i would stay here again when visiting Ayutthaya. Bike rentals and a fabulous restaurant and night market close by.

Ayutthaya was more spread out than expected, but Tamarind was perfectly located right behind Wat Matahat and near the core group of temples. It's also close to decent restaurants, not far from convenience stores etc. They also have bicycle hire. Besides the very reasonable price, the main bonuses for us were the clean, spacious room (in a positively funky old... More
