After reading quite a few mixed reviews for this hotel, we approached it with mixed feelings. The accommodations were average for mid-priced India, but the old- fashioned charm of the hotel itself makes up for the lack of amenities. However, out of four of us, none found the buffet to be even edible. Breakfast was uninteresting, but okay. more

We stayed at several Heritage Hotels during our Rajasthan trip and this came as a surprise on the negative side. The room was very sobre and the bed was extremely hard (thin mattrass on a wooden plate). Badroom was cramped, not clean and smelly. Swimming pool and deckchairs were dirty. Service mediocre. Food was very average (mediocre buffet style) and... more

We staid at Laxmi Vilas for 1 night in the new building. The hotel is nice, but there was no TV or fridge in the room and the bathroom smelled quite a bit. Everything was alright besides prices at the restaurant! Drinks were as expensive as in Paris or London! This is rather ridiculous for India. Most upsetting was that... more

We had one night in the Laxmi after having stayed at two of India's best 5* hotels (The Imperial, Dehli and the Amarvilas, Agra) so the Laxmi came as a bit of a surprise. But once we accepted they weren't trying to offer 5* services, we warmed to the Laxmi. It is old-fashioned but charming and offers a much more... more

My son and i were travelling around Northern india and decided to revisit this hotel where we had stayed once before several years ago. We had throughout our journeys stayed in many wonderful places and had remembered this hotel as a good experience. However, on return we found the hotel had changed significantly and offered extremely poor value for money.... more

Although we onyl stayed here one night it was great. Had a very spacious, cool room. Food was probably the best we had eaten on whole trip- good range and excellent fresh taste. Staff were efficient. Overall a greeat experience more

I stayed for a night in April 2008 along with some friends of mine who were visiting India. I don't know how much it cost as it was part of a tour. I found it acceptably clean and more than acceptably comfortable. The food was not bad, although breakfast was far from special. I did have some work before I... more

Facade OK, rooms - my worst nightmare. Smelt of disinfectant, bathroom absolutely dire. No hot water despite 2 coachloads of guests arriving at 4:30pm, turned water heater on when guests started complaining and took 1 1/2 hrs to heat up. At least all our taps worked, a few others said their hot water tap in the sink wouldn't turn at... more

I just wanted to warn guests about the managment of this place. When we were staying there, they wanted to impose an extra tax on the (unpersonal but large) room, which was before excluded. more

Laxmi Vilas Palace was true to all its review. This place was formerly a hunting lodge.Room #206 where we stayed had a wonderful 4 post bed . What we disliked though was the attitude of the staff in the beginning. Some of the restaurant staff were taking too good a care of the foreign tourists, leaving the domestic tourists high and dry. We... more
