I've been keen to write a review on this place to share my experience. The staff here are not interested helping backpackers get the most out of Amristar. Two examples 1) they tried to charge me to 500 Rs to go in a taxi to The Golden Temple and I got an Ola Taxi for 80 Rs 2) they tried... More

I recently stayed at Grand Hotel with my friend . It was convenient to reach the Hotel by walk from the railway station in less than 5 minutes. Reception staff was helpful and friendly . They gave us a taxi for visiting the border , mata temple and night visit to golden temple at Rs. 650 per person. We had... More

Pros - Next to the station, large rooms. The boys speak politely, though they act slowly. They don't seem to care.. Cons - toilet fixtures don't work..in my room, at least. Wi fi works only in the reception area. The vehicles they arrange are ridiculously expensive. The kitchen opens at 8 a.m and they serve stuff after that. The food... More

The best aspect of Grand Hotel is its location, it is bang opposite the exit of the Amritsar Railway Station. The person at the reception said, just cross the road and you will be there. And truly I was there. The Staff at the Hotel were courteous and caring. They warned me not to stay out too late and to... More

I only stayed one night but found if comfortable and the staff helpful. The courtyard was beautiful and the pub/restaurant had good food. the bathroom was mildewy and had poor shower drainage, perhaps other rooms might have a better bathroom. The price was better than other hotels near the train station.

This is a reasonable budget option but the restaurant REALLY lets it down. I stayed here for two nights in February. Firstly, I loved how easy it was to get there from the railway station, literally three minutes walk. It was a delight to walk past all of the touts clamouring for business. It is also central enough that everywhere... More

Stopped off here on way to Golden Temple - can only comment on experience of beer and food from the 'Bottoms Up' pub attached to the Grand: food and beer fine but what made it was being able to sit at outside table looking onto lawn, palms, shrubs etc. Probably also great place to stay too, if on a budget... Despite directions which seem to indicate quite a walk, the hotel is actually right acroos the road from the rail station main entrance. Good basic accommodation. The Bottoms Up is an excellent restaurant with alcohol Took advantage of the hotel tour to the border at Wagah and the Golden Temple by night but the taxi turned up late, so we... More

The rooms are nice and large and the staff really helpful and friendly BUT it is so noisy that it is impossible to sleep. Since it is opposite then railway station u can hear the noise of the trains especially at night! Also there is a temple across the road so every morning at around 5,30 there is loud praying... Situated opposite the railway station in Amritsar one cannot say that it is quiet as u can constantly hear the trains! Worse is the loud and shrieking loudspeakers of the temple across the rolad! G From 5.30 am the blast of the loudspeakers was non-stop until about 7.00 am. So if one likes loud music in the early hours of... More
