We arranged transport through this G/H and were met at the airport at 3:30 a.m. and driven to the G/H where a boy opened the gates and made us tea - a nice touch. We immediately left for the ceremony at the Golden Temple - fantastic. There are mixed reviews on this G/H and I really didn't want to stay... more

We chose Mrs B's because it is just outside Amritsar. We were not disappointed. All of the staff were helpful and confident in the service that they offered. The location is perfect being very calm with superb gardens in which you can walk or just sit and relax. Ms Bhandari (Mrs B's daughter) runs the guest house and unobtrusively helps... more

My wife and I stayed here for one night after a train ride from New Delhi on 2nd Week of June. The place seems like a heritage haunted place. Once you enter be prepared to welcome by the water buffaloes in the central yard with stinking smell all over the place to add the ambience. The pictures which are posted... more

If you don’t want to be shivering in your sheets, don’t stay at Mrs. Bandhari’s Guest House during winter in Amritsar. During our first trip to India in December 2007/January 2008, we decided to enter India via the Wagha/Attari border with Pakistan and spend one day in Amritsar before heading on to Delhi. We booked Mrs. Bandhari's after reading the... more

My wife and I stayed here for one night after a train ride from New Delhi. We were in Amritsar to visit the Golden Temple, the most important Sikh site in the world. This place is a complete dump. The rooms are small and ours was full of bugs. They leave a mosquito coil and a box of matches so... more

Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, the small swimming pool is a real treat after a hot day or to freshen up after traveling. There is no air con, the fans were sufficient. Breakfast had quite a bit of choice and was well cooked. You will need a bit of tolerance for country living though. There are water buffaloes in... more

We were really impressed with this guesthouse which is situated in the cantonment area, away from the hustle and bustle of Amritsar central, but an easy rickshaw ride in. The room was spotless, and delightful with its colonial furnishings, and the guesthouse itself situated in a beautiful mature garden. My wife hadn't been feeling well on the journey to Amritsar,... more

This was recommended to us by friends from the British High Commission. If you want luxury - go elsewhere, although luxury can be difficult to find in Amritsar, if you want to stay in an alternative location with an interesting history which is basic, very cheap, and very different, you need to be a moderate Indiaphile, then this is the... more

A haven of peace and tranquility after the hustle and bustle of 2 weeks (fantastic!) sightseeing in India. Basic accomodation that outshone the Mohan hotel also in Amritsar(complete with rat in the diningroom). Delightful people, generous portions of food, lovely small pool, 15 mins cycle rickshaw from The Golden Temple, and just lovely to relax in the spacious gardens and... more
