Relaxed hotel, very kind and caring staff, lovely gardens for an afternoon tea. Great view over Munnar. Nice to stay out of the town but easily accessible. Spice gardens near by very interesting and worth a trip.

This was my favourite accommodation during a recent 3 week trip to India. The planters cottages are delightful and set around the grounds. The views, especially from the lookout point are magnificent. The walk through the cardamom plantation was so interesting and also very welcome after a long drive from Kochi. As a family run concern, our interest in the... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and experience at Windermere. The location and scenery was breathtaking, but what really stood out was the friendly staff and the personal service they provided. The delicious food and the walk around the estate were real highlights too. Do be aware, though, that the accommodation is rather simple and dated in places. We suffered from... More

We stayed here for two nights. Everyone is very friendly and helpful - food is good, location is good - the plantation walk is very interesting, both for the interest of seeing how spices and coffee are grown and for the birds and the giant squirrels. Even in February it gets quite cool in the evening so a pullover or... More

This is a lovely spot on a cardoman plantation. The food was good and the sevice and helpfulness of the staff was the best we encountered in a 4 week trip to India. We strongly recommend a trip to Eravikulam National Park to see the rare endangered species of wild goat (the Tahr) and to enjoy the spectacular views -... More

We spent a night here and were impressed with the location and hotel. Room quite basic but large with a lovely balcony to enjoy the view. Wifi fine in public areas. Food was excellent, really good set dinner menu. Breakfast was plentiful, and wonderful to eat outside. Masala dhosa was great, just don't make my mistake of ordering an omelette... More

We stayed here for one night, on our tour of South India. Staff, as everywhere we experienced, were pleasant and helpful. On arrival, we were upgraded to a large, comfortable room with balcony. The rooms are all in separate semi-detached cottages. It is cooler in the mountains and no air-conditioning is required at night. Although it was still pleasantly warm... More

A lovely place, full of character and charm, a peaceful sanctuary set in beautiful plantation and forest landscape. (Actually there is currently some construction work going on nearby so there was a bit of banging noise in the daytime but presumably it's a temporary state of affairs and fortunately there was no heavy machinery). Guided walk through the cardamon planation... More

Unfortunately our schedule only allowed us one night at the Windermere, but we’ve already pencilled it in for our next visit. After been shown to Cardamom a, one of the garden rooms, we immediately liked what we found. A very comfortable, uniquely furnished double, with plenty of storage space, a safe that worked and a large shower room – OK,... More

The Windermere is situated in a really beautiful spot, with great views over the plantations. The rooms are large and comfortable, not overly luxurious but more simply decorated in a homestay fashion. The plantation estate walk was interesting and gave us a chance to see some of the crops that grow around the estate. This isn't the place for people... More
