Windermere Estate absolutely lived up to it's reputation! It's a beautiful property in the middle of a coffee & cardamom plantation, just outside Munnar. It is located at Pothamedu which is about 4kms outside Munnar, away from the touristy crowd, but, close enough to visit the town easily whenever you want to. the rooms are absolutely gorgeous, with smart minimalist... The estate is an absolutely picturesque property that is immaculately maintained. It's peaceful and the staff are all friendly and helpful. We enjoyed all of our meals. The tea house experience in the afternoons is a great way to enjoy a cuppa and engage other travelers. The library is also a nice escape on a rainy day.

Windmeare is nestled close to the tea and cardamon plantations away from Munnar town. Plus: Beautiful viewpoint inside the property for a panoramic view of the valley. Unique Layout with tea stall set-up for the evening. I had a personal photo session with the Neelakurinji flowers which are a sight to behold. -- These bloom once in 12 years ---... More

We recently spent two nights at the Windermere Estate in Munnar and I have nothing but good things two say about it. It is located outside of town, surrounded by lush vegetation with extensive Cardamom and Tea plantations. The Manager was very friendly and competent and we even got a free room upgrade. The premises are well maintained, with a... More

When you get there after usually a long drive you do appreciate its tranquility and the views. On arrival, unfortunately, we didn't receive an upgrade as it was mentioned by many previous reviewers. But we were really nicely welcomed by the receptionist. And it was the same throughout the stay - very polite service by all the staff members we... More

We arrived at the estate on 10-11-2014 and were given an unexpected upgrade to one of the Plantation rooms. This is a really nice place to stay with lovely views over the mountains and forests. It's worth making the effort to climb up to the viewing point early in the morning just to listen to the dawn chorus and watch... More

This place offers peace and serenity as it is away from the town. We travelled last year in December and the experience was amazing. Food was good and the rooms were very well done. Must say that the view was also very good. It has it's own version of a 'view point' where you can climb by stairs to get... More

What a wonderfully warm welcome and everyone was so pleasant and eager to help during our stay. The view is magnificent and it is worthwhile to walk up to the lookout point. We enjoyed the breakfast and the one dinner we had was delicious. The afternoon snacks are also a nice touch. We did, however, have an issue with the... More

We had booked for two nights and whilst I could not find anything to complain about I was just pleased we changed to one night (done before and not because of) Good tour by a guide through the spice plantation. Dinner was ok painfully quiet but reasonably priced . When I mentioned I was in the coffee business just before... More

Very simply put what is there not to love about this simple estate which in a breathtaking surrounding. Its charm lies in its simplicity and very friendly warm service. We were greeted by John, the son of the owner DR Simon on arrival after a very very long drive from Madurai. Our villa which was utterly charming perched high up... More
